I have taken my boat out on the lake a few times since we put the new motor in and it is running great. The only thing I've noticed is when I pull the plug after each use, there is a yellowish, snot looking substance coming out from the bilge. The engine is not leaking and there is no water in the oil. Its also not brownish like the "milkshake" problem. My only guess is this: The trim pump has a leak somewhere and until I shut the boat down for the season, I'm just going to keep filling it. If the trim fluid mixes with water, does it take on this yellowish color? I can't think of anything else it could be. Any ideas?

if ya have to keep fillin it to keep it full. seems like ya've found what's leaking to me....

Any ideas?
now might be a good time to look, while it's in use. sounds like it's leakin enough to build up in the bilge. seems like ya could localize yer search for the trim fluid leak inside the boat......just follow all the connections, one by one......

don't know about the color. i don't even know what i have for fluid in mine. probably 30w. it looks yellowish too....mixed with whater in the bilge. i suppose it could like like ya discribe. not that i want to think about what ya discribe though.....;)

You might want to look at what is in your trim pump. They are supposed to use engine oil, some however end up with ATF, neither of which will give you that yellow color.

I gotta Disagree with you Don,......

If there's ATF in the Trim pump,..... Of course, it'll be a Pink colored Snot.....
But,.....
If it's filled with Engine Oil, or Hyd. Oil,.......
Both of these oils, when Clean,+ not whipped to a froth, Will give a Yellowish Snotty looking Mess, when added to the Bilge Water..............

Either Way,........ It shouldn't be that hard to Find the Leak,.......
Ya just gotta LOOK.........

I agree with Bond-o. Clean motor mixed oil mixed with water will create a yellow looking snot. You problem is defintely an oil leak, but where is it coming from your hydraulic pump or engine?? Mine is leaking from my engine and creates a snotty looking mixture. I put a rag under it to catch the oil until I will have time to fix it over winter.

Have a great day,

Rob.
