Hi all,
Well I basically stumbled across this site a little while ago and I'm happy I did.To all the other Starcraft owners here I say "thanks" for posting your pictures and information. Most of the information has confirmed I was at least in the right ball park when I did a lot of the work on my dad's 1961, 18' Holiday.. Oddly enough, I don't feel as crazy as I did before reading all your adventures!
My dad bought the boat off a guy I think back in 1980 or so. It originally had a Fisher Pierce/Homelite 55 hp outboard on it that needed some TLC long before the internet came about and finding parts for it was pretty tough.
In late 1988 I had helped him put in a new transom and also sprung for a new 1988 leftover 70 hp Mercury outboard. He only got out in it a couple of times since then and the motor probably has less than 10 hours on it. More to follow on that...
As for the rest of the boat, it sat for quite a while, and over the years varmints made a home out of it. It needed quite a bit of work and I'm happy to say so far I have gotten a lot of it done already. Yes I did take some pictures, although it will take a bit for me to get them on here with my old technology at hand. At any rate I still have some work to do on it if it ever stops raining here in Ct.
I just wanted to say hello and thanks again. I will try and get the pictures and additional information on soon.
Be careful,
John
