Before my question, can i just say great site/forums.

Hi, can anyone help? Yes it’s another indent problem.
I have a Johnson seahorse 10hp. I’ve no idea of the age. I need to identify so I can obtain a new fuel pump, points times two & condensers.
The only indent numbers I can find are 300881 and 301848

Regards Harry

Welcome Harry!

Those "model" numbers "don't compute".

Look on the port side transom bracket for a metal tag or there should be a large welch plug (big round silver plug) on the block with the numbers you need. Post them here.

Johnson engines will have two letters in front of the numbers like as an example....QD-13...This is for pre 80's engines.

Hi, thanks for the reply. Unfortunately I can’t find any id other than the “large Welch plug (big round silver plug) on the block with the numbers you need”

After scraping of what I recon tobe undercoat, I reviled the silver plug in all it’s glory.

The number with no – is 300887 with the horse triangular logo above.
Stretching the imagination it could be 3DD887 OR 300BB7 BUT IT JUST LOOKS LIKE 300887
Recon it’s time to sulk  :(

Hello again, I’ve spent the day scraping of five layers of paint from the transom to no avail.
Still no numbers/letters. Did find four screw holes that may have carried a plate. Starting to think this engine has had less than honest live.

The disc with the horse logo still reads 300887

I don’t know if it helps ID but I removed the fuel pump which has a number 304089
I wonder if this would give an idea to which pump gasket kit I need!

Regards Harry

I can't seem to get anywhere with that serial number. Does it have a fiberglass hood or a metal one? Any hope of a pic?

Sorry I missed your reply. If you want, send me an email with your pictures attached. Try to get a few with the cover off though there aren't too many changes in the 10hp during those years.

paul.moir@gmail.com
