so last week I was looking at Craigslist (yes I know not a good idea for a boat aholic) and came across a Free 24' Bayliner in my home town. I went and checked it ou and fell in love. I know I said no more big boats after selling the Grady White but hay it was free, But it had no trailer. I of course said I would take it and went about finding a trailer to use so i could transport it the 3mile home. Could not find any thing so built one out of an old 5th wheel camper frame I knew would come in handy some day.

Got the boat home and after a washed out weekend started the once over of the Bayliner today the out drive is in good working order and the motor turns free and seems like it will run. I'll p/u some battery cable for it tonight and wire the engine to run tomorrow and see where I go from here. Forgot the PO had cut all the wiring out of the boat for who knows why so I'll be rewiring the whole boat. Came with a clean Mass title.

I'll be cutting the 5th wheel part off and adding a tung as well as a 3rd axle and rollers.

The 5th wheel part sits only a few inches above the bed side on the truck so there will be no way i could use it at a ramp as is.

Well of course all thing can't be that good. The engine is not a runner only two cylinders had what would be considered compression.

Considering it's the original 33 year old 260B-350 it's best if i change it now.

I have a 305 I pulled a few years ago from a free car that only had 10K on a reman. I figure about $600.00 will be needed to get it in the boat with marine parts (freez plugs, CAM package, water pump, Alt, starter, Fuel pump) all the good stuff.

I also found a 260 HP 5.7L on CL that will be drop in and turn key. The whole package has only 20 hours and comes with documentation and a guarantee. $800.00 So now I have to make a decision.
