..and yes, I have used search.
(Problem on with one motor only)
Got a pair of 89'Mercruiser 350 sport pac 260hp(?)no serial # on either motor) with velvet drive transmission to shaft. It has delco EST ignition. 12 volts going into coil and out to distributor, but no spark from coil when using spark tester. Their is no interrupt switch, or kill switch at helm for that matter. I have also swapped out coil, wires from other motor tring to quick diagnose problem. Can a bad pickup sensor coil in the dist cause this? I just printed test instructions tonight , so I will try this tomorrow. I will also double check the harness plug( as per 'coroname' post re 12 volt already @coil) but it is already clamped. Boat just started having an issue with this motor starting, and after engine compartment detail, this surfaced. I have also checked entire compartment for anything that may have been knocked loose.
Any ideas? Will get back at it tomorrow(did i forget to say the ignition module in distributor is new?
didn't have a tester for that anyway)
