Ok, here goes

push brakes-lights work
turn lights on, parking lights/side markers work-push brakes they go out
turn signals work with lights on or off-push brakes they go off

Any ideas? I guess it is something to do w/the brakes, (maybe) but I don't know a whole lot about this.

Tow vehicle is a '04 Trailblazer if that means anything. Thanks for any help.

When in doubt check all grounds on the trailer and ground each taillight...

^^^^^^^words of the wise right there....99.5% of mysterious trailer lights behavior have one common denominator: BAD GROUND. If you don't believe me search this section of the forum with the word "bad ground" and see for yourself.

Re: Yet another trailerlight problem!?!

I just had very similar problems to yours. It ended up being that the guy that I purchased the boat from did not ground the white wire in the 4 pin connector to the trailer.

I decided to replace all wiring and solder everything and put all new lights in. Now Mine is working 100%.

Hope that helps, I would replace it all to make it all new and then you know its all wired correctly. Only took about 2 hours for me to do it all, and I changed from a 4 pin to a 7 pin connector and added electric brakes.

Experts one and all, I say ground too. I did have the problem right on the plug once, the male part of the connector was almost completly broken off, I just couldn't see it. Lights worked, then they didn't, checked every ground connection, finally found it. Good luck

I'd be willing to bet you have a crappy GROUND on the trailer/plug/truck. This will cause the lights to dim, go out, do the opposite of each other, etc.

I too am having the same problem. I ground off the rust from the trailer hitch were it goes into the reese reciever,i ground all parts off that had to do with connecting the trailer to the truck. I have a 97 blazer. I used an ohm meter to check continuity between the trailer and the truck and it checks out, I have a good ground. I owned a nissan kingcab one time and to hook up trailer lightsI, I had to install some kind of relay/module to reconfigure the output of the nissan. Maybe thats what we need to do. I'm still working on the problem,I'll let you know what I figure out>

Only if you have separate turn signals, like yellow lens.
That would be the turn signals. The tail and stop lights are on another circuit.
That is when you have to buy the wiring harness to make everything work right.
I would go with ground also.

I read a post by tashasdaddy and I did what he said. I ran a seperate ground wire from the tongue to each taillight and everything works
now.good luck..

Prolly one good ground to the trailer frame would have worked also.

Re: Yet another trailerlight problem!?!

push brakes-lights work
Yes, but only on the small filament
turn lights on, parking lights/side markers work
now in series with larger brake filament, gets current through brake filaments on tow vehicle
-push brakes they go out
now there's 12 v on each wire so no illumination
turn signals work with lights on or off-push brakes they go off
again, series path is removed

As suggested many times above, these conditions reflect a missing ground conductor to tow vehicle
