so, while trying to find a possible fuel leak that makes me run to rich, found a hairline crack in my motor, its next to one of the carbs, on what looks like a mounting part of the motor(it goes from a bushing mount to a bolt that possible holds the flywheel on?) anyways, looking at the top bolt the crack does not go into it, so it would seem the crack is surface? plus its on a really small fin, so maybe it will be ok?

the reason the paint is missing like it is, i scraped it off. the crack is in the metal in some places of it, and others it was just the paint. other then the richness the motor runs fine. just scaring me right now. thanks again everyone.

That could be a casting mark, mine has what look like cracks all over it but the are just the casting marks.

I would start it and spray some carb cleaner or something on it and see if it is actually a crack, it should alternate between sucking in and blowing out, if it doesn't do anything it is a cast mark.

Do as stated above. Probably just surface stressing. not uncommon in cast aluminum parts. I have a few on my block, none leak.
