ABC's 'The Blotter' Exposed Secret US Plans for Covert Black Ops in Iran
Posted by Lynn Davidson on May 23, 2007 - 06:35.

Why should a country go to the effort of spying on America when all they have to do is follow the US media? USA Today reported a database of phone calls and the New York Times publically exposed the SWIFT banking transaction database; both were used to combat terrorism. Now on the May 22 edition of ABC News’ the Blotter, Brian Ross and Richard Esposito revealed another national security-related secret (my emphasis throughout):

The CIA has received secret presidential approval to mount a covert "black" operation to destabilize the Iranian government, current and former officials in the intelligence community tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

The sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the subject, say President Bush has signed a "nonlethal presidential finding" that puts into motion a CIA plan that reportedly includes a coordinated campaign of propaganda, disinformation and manipulation of Iran's currency and international financial transactions.

I?m not here trying to defend anyone in the media that reveals state secrets, but this little part in the article has perked up my BS antenna? current and former officials in the intelligence community tell the Blotter on ABCNews.com?. Something in the back of my mind is saying, this leak sure looks contrived, possibly trying to send a message? Myself I will wait till the other shoe drops too make any judgment.

Sounds like the "sources" need to be found by the CIA and be found gone forever.

Or better yet as an example to other would be "sources".
They are found in their beds with a 9mm to the temple.

Then ABC would be able to report, "the hits appear to be very professional."

And people wonder why other countries don't like us.....first we find out that our country is trying to overthrow a government because we don't like them even though its leader was elected by the people, then we have posters here advocating Saddam-like tactics to plug the leak. God bless America

Correct, liberals supporting our troops. You probably don't know what that looks like since the conservatives appear to want to destroy this country by outing them. You want to hang the messenger which makes little sense. Why is it you are ok with your side of the fence leaking confidential info to the press but you want to hang the press for printing it? I don't agree with the press doing so, but the bigger fish is the leak. The actions by the "leak" amounts to nothing less than treason.

Simply put, you blindly follow while your side of the fence puts troops in harms way by leaking delicate info. You then point fingers at the other side while turning your head so you cannot see what is happening on your own side of the fence. Boy, talk about pretending to support the troops.
My only conclusion, you feel the election slipping away and you refuse to see the truth because it does not fit your election agenda.

Just like a Neocon. They blame those dang Liberals for everything that's wrong in the world. They blame Liberals for the failures in the occupation and they blame the Liberals for getting us into the war. Despite the fact that their Neocon President and his rubber-stamp Legislative and Judicial branches were in charge, NOT THE LIBERALS!

As long as we're picking on "the Liberal Press", let's not forget your Neocon propaganda machine Faux News buddy Geraldo getting his pompous *** kicked out of Iraq for incredibly stupid "reporting"!

"in early 2003, while Rivera was embedded with U.S. military personnel in Iraq. During a Fox News broadcast, Rivera began to disclose an upcoming operation, even going so far as to draw a map in the sand for his audience." What a Collosal Buffoon!

Re: You just gotta love our MSM...

I just love watching liberals getting spun up in fits of self rightous ineptnitude. This, just like the Plame fairy tale, (outed (so called) by a holdover liberal, and they just can't bring themselves to admit it.) can now be used by liberals, to redirect the conversation. In fact, we can blame Bush and conservatives as the source for the leak! I can't wait to find out who the leak is and see the type of coverage it gets when they find out it was ANOTHER liberal. Buried on page 45C as usual. But if it is a conservative that leaks it, it will be the next OJ trial. (And I hope they hang this person publically regardless of political stripe) But, as always, it is impossible for a liberal to say they, or any other liberal, were wrong.

If I send you some illegal drugs, I guess it is ok for you to use them, because, well, you can always say you didn't ask for them. But by all means, don't call the police, flush them down the toilet, or throw them away. It's not your fault if you get caught giving them to preschoolers. It's just not your fault, it's President Bush's.

Is there no thought process between getting information and broadcasting it? Seriously, any thought at all? You know, well maybe you do, like HOW THIS WOULD AFFECT OUR WAR EFFORT? Our press has turned into trained chimps, info in - info out. By all means, in the liberal mindset, look for someone else to blame. Responsibility? Heck you all have a slogan to hide behind, Freedom of the Press!!!! No need to act responsibly or engage common sense. And in fact, you can then call yourselves Patriots! Only in a convoluded mind, could someone point to this as helping our war effort, supporting our troops, or as Patriotic. I guess liberalism is a Mental disease. I sure hope fatboy MM, shows us how Castro treats those afflicted with this disease in his upcoming movie. I am sure our troops would appreciate a little less "support" from liberals. Less we forget, they have the right to life, just like the rest of us.

Unlike a liberal, I have, did, and will again say that Geraldo was an idiot, fool, clown, buffoon, irresponsible, thoughtless, and deserves every bit of the critisism he has, does, and will recieve for his idiotic report. He was lucky all they did was throw him out of Iraq, and not put him up for charges. His talents clearly were lacking in that environment, and never again should he be placed in an environment where his inability to use his ol' bean, could cause a loss of life. And Fox News, as his employer, bears equal responsiblity for that report.

If the "leaker" had any sense at all, we would not have to worry about that, now would we?

Like your fine feathered friends in the oil business, apparently newspapers too make money first and then worry about the consequences later. RIght or wrong......yeah it's wrong, but it's not my choice to change it just like I cannot change oil prices. I guess it's what you republicans / conservatives have reduced this countries priorities to.......making money regardless of the consequences. What a fine mess you have created over the past 6 years.

A possibility. And I pray to God you're right.
If these were viable national secrets however, I hope they find the mole, try the creature in a military tribunal, find it guilty and hang it by the neck until it is dead. As for the media, you get what you will tune-in for. I no longer do. They disgust me.

Great answer CJY! You managed to magically link, Republicans, and "Big" oil into a subject about liberal bias and irresponsible "journalism" regarding the war. Deflect, misrepresent, and cloud the issue, fogging techniques frequently employed by liberals. And with any luck we will never have to really address the issue put forth.

Here's a little help to keep you on track.

Question: Does ABC get to choose which soldiers will be killed because of this or is it just a random selection?

I was absolutely on track. Just not to your liking. Yes, I did link oil and republicans, on purpose of course. My point, money rules! No magic involved. I linked them much the same way you link ABC and liberals....get it? Are you keeping up? I did not fog, deflect or otherwise in any way that you did not do for the "leaker." Are you still with me. You made the rules on this one, not me.

W/O the "leaker" we have a mute topic and you want to avoid that issue for some reason. I already said ABC was absolutely wrong to capitalize at the expense of our soldier's war efforts. However, ABC was following the same dream of wealth at any cost. The same dream you repubs would otherwise support except when it does not fit the agenda.

The real question, what was the motive of the "leaker"? You repubs spend so much time accusing libs of wanting to destroy this country that sometimes you have to turn a blind eye to an event that is unexplainable.

You continue to argue what fits your agenda which is, it's all ABC's fault. I on the other hand argue it is the "leakers" responsibility FIRST. That one does not appear to fit your agenda as nicely.

As far as ABC's choice on those that die........I don't know. Did the blogger expose the "leakers" preferences on that one?

With any luck, you will be correct in never having to deal with the "leaker" issue, I agree with that.

As I stated, sometimes that great republican dream of wealth in the free market comes at a cost. Just because oil capitalizes in our free market does not mean they are the only ones eye balling the same dream.

Good conservative though. You know, the do as I say and not as I do thing.

Re: You just gotta love our MSM...

CJY,

And you ramble on........... Leakers are leakers for specific reasons. Be them political, personal, financial, etc. Leakers have agenda's. A NEWS ORGANIZATION has several layers that are to be in place prior to running a story. Still with me? They hold themselves out to the public as advocates and protectors of the common man. They brag on themselves about their credentials, experience and education. News organizations are not suppose to have agenda's. How exactly did they use their experience, and education, on this story? It is clear to see their agenda though.

Decisions are made every minute about what is and is not newsworthy. Thousands of stories are not reported everyday for untold reasons. Did you know that? Your not an idiot, of course you did. But in the eyes of a "Respected" and "Established" and "Award Winning" news organization, this particular story, which they very well may have helped generate, (news org's should report news, not make it, you do understand that?) decided this one made the cut. No news about Feinstein and graft and corruption, but a leaked, and therfore, most likely unsubstantiated story makes a headline. Oh, nice liberal touch by saying money is the link. For liberals everything is about money. I guess "Big" Oil is responsible, duh. No connection but nice technique. Journalism is suppose to be about truth, justice, and the American ... (oops, not politically correct). And in your conveniently forgotten next point, it isn't just about money, its about power. Power is more important than money. Money is just a byproduct or a means to power. Big liberals understand this.

It is pathetic of you to blame the leaker for MAKING ABC run and publish the story that very well could end up getting our troops killed. Do you understand how silly that makes you look? How you linked to Big Oil, is tenuous at best. But it is refreshing to see you now understand that the majority of media is nothing but a bunch of lefties with an agenda. And their so called profession, renders them nothing but pawns.

Keeping you on track, this is not about Big Oil.... or Big Money...... You would think that the title alone would be enough, (Black opps) for their "experience" to rule the day. I guess we all know what that experience is. Do you understand?

Re: You just gotta love our MSM...

I don't think for a minute that MSM is complicit in divulging any secrets that aren't desired to be "divulged". Leaks are leaked for a purpose. PROPAGANDA. Either to undermine the enemy or misdirect the enemy. Patriotism is as Patriotism does. Treason is as Treason does. Treason is never financially profitable in the long run. These guys aren't Stupid (like Geraldo is). ;)
