Key Largo to Key West. Islamorada has great fishing, but anywhere in the Keys is great. There are a ton of road side shops and if you head a little "north" to Homestead there is an outlet mall. Not much further are the big regular malls. There a nice small cuban cafe in Key Largo...actually a couple of them. Go to Bud and Mary's if you want to charter (Islamorada) or the Holiday Inn in Key Largo ocean side. If you just want to hang and shop AND fish...head all the way down to Key West. Key Largo is the only town in Florida with more dive shops than gas stations.
I think half the residents are Scuba Instructors as well. (Including me)

A few more

defensive driving means being able to spot the rental cars
have seen a ford mercury 4 door driven by no one except some wrinkled hands holding the wheel
being at a red light and hearing the husband tell the wife "tell me when it's green" ( really happened)
the early bird special keeps the restaurant in business

I don't know what the big deal about skiing on Christmas Day ... we would go water skiing on New Year's Day ... but I was younger then and wet suits were a must ... had to do it then because much later and the lake might be frozen over! (and no, there was no "anti-freeze" involved!)

Even tho you live in Pensacola, every relative you never knew you had from "up north" says they are gonna visit you during their trip to Disney World.

One thing they always say is when they retire they will move up north and drive slow, then they visit and all but get run over when driving what they think is fast. Wife still laughs about it as she is from Florida, when she gets hom sick just take her to Florida, Ohio
