Zinc anodes - do they work / how to use them?

I'm going to be heading down to Corpus Christi for the summer. I have only had my boat in fresh water so I'm doing everything I can to protect it while I'm down there. I've searched the forum and gotten everyone's suggestions for saltwater, except I still have a question about something I've seen on here. Zinc Anodes. I have a '71 Mercury 650. How do I apply the sacrificial anodes to the engine? Do I need one for the cowl and one for the block or do the grounding connections make it work on both? Thanks again for the help.

the bonding wires will work
u can get one that clips on so u can hang it while u are in the saltwater
