Aluminum hull, stripped to bare ally. Using Interlux primer (epoxy primecote or interprotect 2000, then topped with brightsides). Should I use Zinc chromate first, or not at all? Only thing I havent done yet, is call Interlux, but I cant seem to find any info. I know lots of people have used both, but have never really understood if they are being used together......

BARE METAL: Surface should be blasted to bright metal. If blasting is not possible, grind with 36 grade (grit) discs. Apply one very thin coat of Viny-Lux Primewash 353/354. Allow to dry for 1-24 hours. (but no more than 24 hours).

From interlux website. Says to use the viny lux primewash. Does this take place of the zinc chromate?

Guys back when I was tryin to figure out what to do paint wise on my boat several people posted saying that if i used zc the folks at interlux would advise me to remove it and use their own brand of etching type primer.

I am not sure about using 36 grit - that seems like a very heavy duty sandpaper - go with the 150 grit white paper and use with a dual action sander.
