did you check fuel pressure? if not, check it is the spark arrestor clean? if you have a crab cap on the distributor, change it.

According to the diagram it has 1 pulser and 1 lighting coil but the pulser has two leads on it. Numbers 2 and 3 on the image.

Depending on the size, racoons may need more than a .22 to the head unless you are running LRHPs even then its iffy.

I`d try some emory cloth to polish up the shaft surface. Much like a trailer bearing is smoothed out when nicked.
