balance their "mixed-race family"

I am not exactly sure why this bugs me, but it does. What's the point? It's like they want to Build the Perfect Beast, but they are doing it with children. Anybody else get a little creeped out by this? It's like a whole new level of anti-turned-hyper racism . . .

I think it's a "win win" situation myself.
By adopting they are giving less fortunate children a good start in life.
By her being on the pill, we won't have another Brad Pitt in this world

Oh come on now QC. This shouldn't surprise you. Liberals have succeeded in bringing up several generations of polictically correct adherents. Get with the program.

I was going to note that the kids may be getting a pretty good deal, but thought I'd let this play out a little first. I think it is the focus on race to engineer a family that's buggin'.

I did find it interesting that she shared that she was on the pill. Thanks for that Angelina :}

Re: Mixed-race family

I have known several so-called "mixed race" families and find them delightful.

As for Angelina and Brad: At least there are a couple of liberals who are putting their money where their mouths are.

JB,

I knew that this would happen and I am especially bummed that it came for you. Please reread my post. If there is anything that I am not, it is a racist, and I have taken it as seriously as you do since I was the ripe old age of 5. My point was that they are predetermining the racial make up of a selected family to "balance" it. That's where it starts to get weird for me. I think it is racism. That's why I am creeped out.

BTW, I agree about their money where their mouths are and have been cautiously supportive until I saw this. Still might be, but this gives me the willies.

[colour=blue]I can see how the article could be perceived as a shopping expedition to find the right accessory. Sort of like matching the handbag with the shoes. Is that what you mean?

Aldo's hit it spot on. Just doesn't seem quite right to me.

The other piece is that they feel the little girl (I think) needs a similar looking sibling to be comfortable. That is exactly what we all teach our children they don't need. People that look like them.

[colour=blue]Their intentions may be good and honorable, but with their past 'weirdness' and Madonas' shopping expedition for little dark people, the average joe has the right to be suspicious. I am.

Re: Mixed-race family

What bothers me more is social deviates raising children, as most Hollywierd types are.
Instead of being parents they will spend months at a time on movie sets, having others raising their "family".
The children can't possibly have a normal childhood being in the spotlight of the public/media and hounds 24/7.

If they were to honestly put their money where their mouths are they would use their millions to drop out, disappear and raise their family in complete privacy forevermore, without making it a sorry spectical.

More like pets than children, odds are they will have a different daddy in 5 years anyhow.

Re: Mixed-race family

I am with you on this one, QC. It just doesn't feel quite right. I teach my kids not to see the color on the outside, that it doesn't matter. It shocked me a few weeks ago when the 5 year old wanted to say something during one of my talks on the work we are doing in Ghana. She said, "While there I learned that they are black and we are white." I looked at my wife, she looked and me, and we were surprised because we would watch her there, and really wondered if she saw a difference.

Anyway, not sure if Brangelina's INTENTIONS are noble or not, but the WORDING is a bit creepy.

Re: Mixed-race family

I didn't take you as a racist, QC. I took your objections as complaining about the "rationale" reported by the media.

In fairness to Brangelina (like that, Aspeck) I doubt that most people could avoid saying something that the press would blow out of proportion when under the glare of a spotlight 24/7. She may have intended that remark as a bad joke.

We all say something that sounds different than what we mean once in a while. The difference is that we don't have mikes shoved down our throats and media vultures pounding us with irrelevant questions at all times. They don't need to generate publicity, they get it by getting up in the morning.

If they want to construct a rainbow family I say more power to them. They will live in the spotlight no matter where they came from.

Haut: American kids come in every shade and appearance on earth. Does it really matter where they were born?
