Hello, I just bought a 2001 Evinrude 75Hp (Model E75___SIF. I ran the boat for about 45 Min. When i was covering up the boat, I noticed a rubber smell. Does this moter have a rubber impeller that could be burning up? I can't seem to find any information. Please help. Thanks, Chris

You run the motor: on the water? or on muffs? right? Please dont say you ran it without water to the lower unit. If you did, you just burnt up the waterpump impellor. It is made of rubber.

I ran the motor on the lake. The check engine light came on once and then went off after a couple of seconds. The motor model is E75FLPSIF. Thanks

I once had a rubber smell from my 1971 Manatee boat when I got home from the lake. I searched high and low, then realised that the smell was coming from the tires on the boat trailer....they were under inflated after sitting all winter and they were hot from driving down the road at 60 mph!!

That alone is reason to continue to search for the cause. I suggest remove the cowel and look for any parts that could be rubbing on the flywheel or any hot surfaces.

You should check everything: oil, fuel, telltale, etc. Then post your findings to get more help.

Yes, its rubber and its located on top of the lower unit where the LU meets the midsection. Have to remove the LU to get to it. You need a manual if you dont have one.
