Moving to Chrysler/Force questions.

Re: overheat buzzer

Which part of your overheat circuit is not hooked up? There are two components to this circuit. The buzzer, which should be under the dash, gets 12 volts from the ignition switch. My manual shows it to be the red/blue wire from the switch. The other wire from the buzzer gets routed back to the the terminal block on your outboards port side just behind the starter motor. My manual shows this to be an orange wire, which should be the fifth terminal from the top. This then gets connected to the thermo switch, which is installed in the cylinder head. The termo switch acts just like a light switch in your house, if the engine overheats the themo switch closes and your buzzer will sound.
Hope this helps you out. The manual I'm referencing is the actual Force manual for both 85 and 125 HP outboards. If you plan on doing your own work it would be wise to invest in a service manual. Even my Seloc manual has a pretty decent wiring diagram, but most here will recommend the Clymer manual. I found my Force manual on Ebay after being disappointed in the Seloc!

Re: overheat buzzer

let me say thanks for the reply.
let me make sure i get it. i got the sending unit and the the orange wire runs to and under the dash. it ends there. the buzzer is under the dash also and the 2 wires are just hanging there.
so i hook 1 black wire to the orange wire and the other black wire to the switched 12volt on the key switch? i hope i got it right. let me know so i can get it hooked up. thanks for the replies.

Re: overheat buzzer

yes, when the sensor closes due to over temp, it makes the connection to ground.

Re: overheat buzzer

You got it right! You may want to hook up 12V to the buzzer to make sure the buzzer works. Actually just a simple 9v battery might work for that. Kind of makes you wonder if someone disconnected it because it was going off all the time???
