Re: hull extension in progress with picks
Re: hull extension in progress with picks
thats one of my biggest concerns overit.
in order to get the slow cruising i want, and the top end that i want...i allmost need two motors....i dont want to hang a troller off the back, as i dont want the hassel of "changing propulsion systems" every time my girl and i decide to slow down and cruise.. i just like to throttle back and put, and when were done or its time to go im...just hit it.
every time you use a "go fast" motor, you sacrifice relyability, (boats are all a trade off
) i could put a full blown alchol burning hemi in there, and it would last for a week.
if i keep it "stock" i need a 505 to get the hp, but i still wont get the spin speed we need as boaters for the top end. even with a good gear set.
thats why a sbc, stroked will be the best trade off...(imho) but a pully driven
blower would be real nice.
the only thing with bbc....i will need to extend the hull of a towing barge to fit a 53 foot fuel tanker on it
Re: hull extension in progress with picks
There was a small bock with a B&M style blower in the local trading post here. I'll try and find out some more about it. A supercharged sb with a quick and quiet exhaust could give you that upper end power, and still let you cruise slow like you said you do most of the time. Most naturally aspirated engines built to the hilt don't like to be idled or run at lower rpms.
