Re: Wives and Boats

She likes to go and I like for her to go, she is my main driver when I ski but she also thinks that 2 hours on the water is plenty while I could stay for 6, 8, 10, 12..overnight, whatever

Ooh! Been there, heard that. I finally had to dis-invite my wife from going on play outings with the kids. Everyone would have a great time, we would tube and ski until they were tired or the weather cooled down. I never put pressure on the kids to stay out but the Mrs always thought it was too long.

I told her I would miss her but if the duration, that is fine with all other participants, was not fine with her maybe she should just not go with us. (in otherwords, you may stay home) I'm only talking here about 5-6 hrs vs 2-3 hours. Not a day long or unplanned overnight event.

Don't worry. It did not cost me anything. You cannot give up that which you do not already have!

.....Fishing and boating is how I spell relief. It takes me a million miles away from the day to day stresses. I could not live without it.

No wonder we hardly hear from you anymore!:p;) We always thought it was because you moved to the 'other side'.;)

Dude, not once, not twice, not three times, not even four times??? What the hell are you thinkin???:p

I used to be attracted to Flashy, Sleek, Fast and HIGH maintenance.
That included Bikes, Boats, Trucks, Cars and Females! Now in my mid 50's, so I have given up on the Flash, drive a diesel Chev., sold my Harley, rebuilding a21' C.C (Sangstercraft), kept this wife for 15 years now.:D:rolleyes:

As long as we're going out on the pontoon boat, she's all there... But if I suggest that we take the kids tubing on the ArenaCraft (Chevy 454), she'll opt out. In fact, she's not been out on it yet... She calls it "the other woman"...

Last year when I got the boat, she was all right with it, she would go out & with her friend drive the boat while I was tubing, that was with the 65 hp now it has a 140hp and she doesn't want to go, says "it's to fast why would you want to go fast on the water" she doesn't mind if I go fishing when I want, I just wish she would go with. Of course she is afraid of the water something about almost drowning as a child in a lake.

Re: Wives and Boats

I bought our boat and then proceeded with a stringer and sole job on it immediately. My fiancee (now wife as of July 4, yes she still married me) called me "the head in the boat" for a month and was getting a little bit annoyed with the time I was spending on the boat and not with her and the kids.
Now that the boat is done and we have many hours of looking from the water at the beach, not vice versa, she loves coming out and will stay out as long as we can.
She has learned to drive the boat and back the trailer up this summer too!

I think I caught a keeper!!

My wife can't swim and seems to think anything involving water over three feet deep is just suicidally insane.

50 years ago my dad taught me that it doesn't matter at all how deep the water is -- you only use the top 2 feet or so anyway. :D

heh, yeah, my wife calls the boat "my mistress". She hates all the time I've spent working on it, that's caused some friction, but she enjoys it for the most part when we all go out on the lake.

If she actually knew how much I've spent on it during the past 2 years, I'd be in real trouble...

Regardless of boat's reputations, I'll bet it was a darn sight less to maintain as well.;)

My wife enjoys the trips on the boat. This past weekend, we took leisure rides and when I stopped to fish, she read her book. She's always supportive of my activities I guess that's why like many fish we catch and release, but there's always the one you'll keep.

Re: Wives and Boats

My wife will spend all day on the water just chilling or fishing. She loves to do both and if she gets tired of fishing she always has a book with her and reads while catching some sun. It doesn't matter if it's been 1 hour or 6 hours, she just enjoys being on the water, as do I.
