Make them cherry red from the back and impact the nuts loose from the frount

I can try that also. I didn't get a chance to work on the trailer today. Put all my time on the boat. Tanks are in, engine bilge pump installed and did a little of this and a little of that.

Got one side of the trailer stripped down and bought the new parts for both sides. Now a new "&*%$$$@$%" problem! The floor drains rotted out the corners of the transom! Now gotta cut that out, install new wood, fill with resin and replace fiberglass. Then the drains will be moved to the sides above the water line. Removed the port side cylinder to rebuild it with new cylinder sleeve.

Got the port side trailer back plate, brakes, drum, springs and hub changed out today. The starboard side will have to wait until Monday. Also have to think of a plan of attack to get the transom corners fixed.

Well it looks like Monday afternoon I'm going to slip her into the water and see how she runs. Got all the mechanical and electrical worked out and will finish off the floor drains Monday morning. The floor drains going thru the transom were not that bad after digging all the rotted wood. Dried the two drain holes out and then packed the holes with fiberglass and filled it up with resin. Ran the new brake hydraulic lines this morning and will bleed them on Monday also. Had a lot of help from Frank Parker, of Sarasota Florida, over the past week to get all this done.

Wow..sounds like you're close! Looks like you got some good help and things have moved along. Let me know how your brake install goes. I need to put them on one axle....

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

This will be just a short sea trial to check for any mechanical/electrical bugs. The real work will be getting it "ship shape." Still have to paint the deck, rehab the cuddy cabin, install radio and find a fish finder/gps and a million other little creature comfort things.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get a new trim switch? I'm going crazy trying to find one. I took mine apart and cleaned and lubed it to make it work. Sometimes it just starts working on it's own and I have to wiggle it.

Well launching didn't happen yesterday. We had some "hell-a-cious" lightning and rain in the late afternoon. Sooooo, I didn't get a lot of the little things done in order to do the launch. I did get the trailer hydraulics bled out, bought a new #2 battery, flooded bilge areas to make sure they worked, cleaned dirt dobber bee nest out of bilge lines and located all the hand grab rail hardware from it's hideing places. Watching news this morning and they say more heavy thunder storms today!

I MIGHT HAVE TO GET OUT THE OLE "LAWN CHAIR BASS BOAT" AND GO POND FISHING IF THINGS DON'T START HAPPENING SOON!! LoL

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

Another busy day just doing the little things. Re-installed the bimini top, put new lead chain on the anchor and installed on boat, installed all the grab rails, greased the pivot points of the outboard, installed new distributor cap and reeled out the winch cable to inspect it. It needs replacing. You guessed it though, "still not in the water yet!"

The boats' name was "Triple Option" and was thinking of renaming it. Someone told me it was bad luck to rename a boat! Me, "not being superstitious," was thinking of doing it anyway. Who's got an opinion? "Boy that's a loaded question!"

Good job, Ron. Definitely smells like progress to me. Good speaking to Gene the other night. Hopefully we can put a trip together soon...strength in numbers!

I'm not superstitious, so if the name of the boat is not to your liking, change it! Persistence.... Fortitude.....something along that line would be appropriate..!!

Soooo many set backs! Just can't seem to get it into the water. Put some new LED trailer lights on yesterday and more lightening and high winds spoiled the launch. This baby is ready for a sea trial and I'm getting soooooooo anxious! "Maybe" today is the day! The "honey do" list is growing and I keep telling "her" to go put it into the paper shreader! LoL

On a boat such as mine, what should I expect in fuel cost or gallons for a single day of fishing? Just wondering how many people I'll have to tie to the gunwale to help pay for the fuel! LoL

I would expect this to use 8 to 10 gph most boats love fuel. It might be higher if run hard or in rough water. Just my est. Maybe someone else will chime in

Hi Ron, never really calculated it but I would estimate ~10 gal/hr at cruising speed.

Question is..........did you get it in the water yet???

Re: 1982 GW, 24' Project (UPDATED W/PICS)

TODAY WAS THE DAY!!! Put it in the water for it's first sea trial. Ran really sweet with a few more bugs found. At slow speeds the temp stayed at about 150 degrees. At fast speed it shot right up to 180 to 200! The port side heat riser was really hot while the starboard side was not so hot. Gonna pull both risers off tomorrow and clean them out. The fuel guage didn't work and no switch for fore and aft tank selection. Looks like the gimbal bearings are needing replaceing and may as well do the u-joints while in there. The speedometer was inoperative. Things are starting to happen for me now and at least now I know it "floats!"

Cool! You finally splashed her! How did it feel on plane? Are there trim tabs to deal with or not? Hope to hear about round two....

Hey Rick. No trim tabs got up and planed up fast. When I do the gimbal bearings and u-joints how will I get the lock off one of the outdrive nuts? I didn't get a key to remove it.
