Re: How Bad

Darnit OJ, what are you trying to do, kill this thread?

Hey Im just saying...... Look what speach censorship has gone and done to this great country...why we couldnt even say obama's middle name without being called a racist. Meanwhile one of obamas cabinet members said the other day that he wants the (very few) infrastructure jobs like bridge building to go to poor unskilled minority workers instead of "white construction workers".
Everyones afraid to speak out against socialism and call it what it is. This encludes the media, big auto, big health care, the majority of repubs....and so and so on. If Iboats and others want to sensor this debate then they/it will reap the rewards of more government control over business as well as a stalled economy. History is repeating......

Re: How Bad

I think some of you should watch these two movies: http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

Start with the movie itself and then watch the addendum.

'Zeitgeist, The Movie' and 'Zeitgeist: Addendum' were created as Not-for-Profit expressions
to communicate what the author felt were highly important social understandings which
most humans are generally not aware of. The first film focuses on suppressed
historical & modern information about currently dominant social institutions, while
also exploring what could be in store for humanity if the power structures at large continue
their patterns of self-interest, corruption, and consolidation.

The second film, Zeitgeist: Addendum, attempts to locate the root causes
of this pervasive social corruption, while offering a solution. This solution is not
based on politics, morality, laws, or any other "establishment" notions of human affairs,
but rather on a modern, non-superstitious based understanding of what we are
and how we align with nature, to which we are a part. The work advocates
a new social system which is updated to present day knowledge, highly influenced
by the life long work of Jacque Fresco and The Venus Project.

Bailout thought for the day.

Back in 1990, the Government seized the Mustang Ranch brothel in Nevada for tax evasion and, as required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed.

Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a ***** house and selling booze?

Well, understand that the majority of politicians are lawyers, so the inability to run a brothel profitably makes perfect sense. Plus, the customers balked when the billable time was changed to 100ths of an hour.

A moment of silence for our, our kids, and our grandkids financial future....

Re: How Bad

We've gotten lazy. We over spend and wonder how we lost our home.

The big boys are pushing the government to act on their behalf. The politician can't make tough decisions without following party lines.

Bean counters cut jobs to increase profit. We all want to have a pension to last us 30 years and really expect that those same bean counters are not going to figure a way to make pensions into profit.

We think that big business shouldn't send our companies to India, but we'll hire cheap labor and buy cheap foreign merchandise to personally save our own money.

When the going gets tough.....the tough get going. But we don't have leadership to tell us where to go.

There is not single easy cause for the problem this country is in. You have to blame everything and everyone. Once that is done, take a deep breathe and become part of the solution. Take care of the basics, food, water, housing, family, religion, boating. Then the simple things. Then savings. Then community. Then plan the future.

I like iboats because we all have a single thing in common and we are here to share information and act as a community. If our families and neighbors could do the same, this country would fix itself.

Re: How Bad

I was in my mid 30's before anyone would give me a credit card. I had good credit prior to that time, but could not meet the standards. Then it was like a switch being thrown and CC's were handed out to millions. I feel this was a way to make internet sales boom in which it did. When I hear that 18 year olds have CC's, it really makes me wonder who and why would they give someone that young credit cards. Those that made those decisions to give the credit on false information should be held accountable for not doing the background confirmation of their work and credit history. Sometimes I feel Louie on the corner would be a better choice to get a loan from. At least you wouldn't have to pay 300% by the time the debt is paid off.

Re: How Bad

It has affected me quite a bit.....
It was hard to compete with contractors who hire illegal immigrants even before the economic crash......
We need to send the illegals packing & take care of our own....
That's all I got to say about that..... ;)

Amen to that illegal Immigrants and NAFTA have sank this country. The unions fought it tooth and nail. All the big buisness exec's could see was cheap labor and high profits. It has all came back to bite us. We have wiped the middle class IE: working people right out of our country. Then to top it all off the OIL COMPANIES robbed everybody last summer by selling oil at $150 a barrel. Sadly many in Congress and even our current President (God Bless HIM) are in favor of open borders and world trade. Which has spred all the jobs and wealth to the entire world and especially the third world countries. If the Economy continues much longer we are going to be in a depression.

I think we already are in a depression. Next time you go to Wally world count how many Caddys,Lexus and all the other high end cars you can think of. You may be surprised. I saw a beat up,rusted out ole pickum up truck in the parking lot. Right next to it was a new model Caddy. In the old days that caddy would have been anywhere else but next to that truck.

Re: How Bad

I've applied for over 60 jobs now and some I've applied for at least 3 times for the certain places because they don't keep the applications all that long. I've forgot to list some of the jobs I've applied for in the past, been trying to keep a list.

My girlfriend just got a job at a fast food resteraunt just started work today, she had a friend help her get that job.

All I can say is what a mess. They also messed my unemployment up, don't draw that much....Now what am I to do?:(

I've gottin past the point of being picky because of my physical condition, and what jobs to apply for but still nothing is happening. Hard times, very hard :(.

Re: How Bad

I was staying away cause it was just to painful to keep reading the hurt and frustration of people just like me. And we all know the saying," for the grace of g-d go I ".

Hard working people, who never in their lives took a government check who want to work. Forgive me it's hard to type.

There is a way out but it will take a man with guts, and resolve to accomplish a turnaround in our economy.

It is a rather simple solution and will get manufacturing jobs back to this country, thats where my solution ties in.

Tax everything coming into this country that is made overseas.

Example, a starter made in china and sold here is sold below what it costs to make in china.

So if a starter made in china is sitting next to a starter made in the usa that costs the same we would buy the usa made starter.

And guess what china made products will stop flooding into this country.

Not just starters every thing made overseas, tax it to conform to the prices of us made goods.

That would open back up our factories, cars would start coming back off the assembly plants and people would have money to buy milk for the baby again.

But this would take like i say a guy who will have to turn a deaf ear to the special interest groups, Maybe the same guys that gave him the money to run in the first place.

Do we have that guy? Thats the question ?

How will history portray him in the years to come ??

But he better stop messing around with giving money away to the fat cats.

And better start thinking about the backbone of this country people like us, people that want to work, not the ones that never worked, will never work, and don't want to work.

Sorry if it was a long one, and thank you for reading it.

Chief I totally agree.

Re: How Bad

Monday night I dropped off the boy at a sports facility in Winchester, Virginia that was next door to a Gander Mountain store. In the parking lot there were eleven employees cars (dusted with snow) and three customer cars.

Certain segments of retail are way overbuilt, and there will have to be a real thinning of the herd.

Re: How Bad

I disagree with blaming your Govt.

I put the blame down to a 'way of thinking', or 'a way of operating', that was pretty much developed after WW2, and not been updated or ammended since. The financial system is an old chaotic system that needs reform.

Well, considering that the government often 'reflects' or 'directs' (depending on which side of the conspiricy line you are on) our way of thinking, you are right. We think we are electing people who know what the are doing. In a way, we are right - they know how to get elected. Beyond that, all bets are off.

You are not the only country with the problem, and yours is not as bad a some others countries.
And other countries are far more financially sound that you, yet suffering the same.

The global economy hard at work. [Sarcasm]

That's where our problem lies...there is too much money for the suit in the middle who produces nothing.
That's why I believe reform is badly needed.

Both Capitalism and Socialism look good in theory. It's when you put people into the picture that reality happens.. :) The people in the middle get too much money because they can. Would you turn it down?
