Just sold my 1988 VIP Valiant 18' bowrider and have an offer in on a 1998 Moomba Outback tournament boat, pending water test and physical inspection tomorrow morning.

Funny that one of the most popular boat types is not represented on your poll, center console type Boston Whaler.

1992 Bayliner Classic 1950 3.0L. It may be old and ugly but it's paid for.

Old and ugly?!? Surely you jest. Looks just fine to me. I'll show you OLD and ugly. 1967 Johnson Surfer, Buick V8. It's in great original condition. But even new, it wasn't winning any beauty contests...

That's no boat! That's just there to keep the motor from sinking.

Re: What type of boat do you own?

You left out Center Console, some may call it a fishing boat and it is, but so is
a bass boat, but they are not the same. I guess the center console is like the
SUV of boats. Center consoles are more popular along the coastal areas. You
guys that boat on the lakes probably don't get them.

Mine is a NauticStar 1900 Offshore. This boat is awesome. Yamaha F-150
four stroke gives great fuel economy and will push her around 47 with 4 on
board, cruse at 28 - 30. The 66 gal. fuel tank gives it great range.

Re: What type of boat do you own?

well I checked "fishing boat" to cover the center console and all the others since you can fish from all of them. Here are the boats I have or use at the hunt/fish club:
13' sears canoe c. 1970
13' whaler SC 1964 Merc 200 1972
12' jon 1960's 8 hp (club boat)
14' Lowe wide jon 15 hp OMC 1980's (club boat)
17' Key West DC 1988 70 hp johnson 198?
19' Carolina Skiff CC 1996 50 Yamaha 2002? (club)
17' Folboat rigid sea kayak, 1950's, self restored-I found the frame in the trash
21' Sea Hunt CC 150 Yam 2003--my new baby.

Next door is the rowboat my great uncle built perhaps 100 years ago. One of the more reliable!

Re: What type of boat do you own?

Why is there no center console choice. This is mostly a lake boat crowd?

While it is true that many people fish from a center console so do many people tube behind a sport boat. People ski, scuba, explore and do many things from a center console type hull than fish. We rarely fish. The center console is the most popular hull layout in much of the south and east because of it's versatility and yet there is no choice in the poll? What gives?

Center console set up for diving, I don't see any fishing rods on it:

Nope, no fishing here either:

1979 Lucraft bowrider with 70 Johnson. Anybody else have a Lucraft? Can't find much on 'em but I love mine! Plan to sell everything on land and buy a houseboat when I retire and keep the little boat to fish with.

Re: What type of boat do you own?

well i for one have lived on the chesapeake bay all my life so no lake boater here. as far as the personal preference to what type of boat i own was my choice do to my lifestyle. i have a wife and a child, and we bring family & friends along with us alot so it is ideal for me to have a boat that has all of the amenities of home, the kid's can watch movies, the women have a place to go potty lol, and if we want a cup of coffee or pop some popcorn or if it's a little on the humid side that day turn on the a/c just fire up the genset. as far as fishing goes we can do that too and when rock fish season comes in i'd much rather troll off the back of my boat with the enclosures up to keep the wind off of me. not trying to knock center consoles or any other type of boat, in my opinion it's all about what suits your needs best in a boat.

high-n-dry excellant underwater pick (are those jellies?) But never the less my rig is a SeaRay 175 5 series 17.5 ft, bowrider 3.0LX alpha 1 gen 2 and I do like all of us that haven't already aspire to go bigger and better when funds allow but we live with what we have and enjoy it throughly every time we are on the water I personally will never be with out a boat the next rig will be a little more roomy and with more power I feel the 3.0 is a very dependable powerplant but is pushed to it's limits more than need be a v6 will be perfect in a 20'.

we just took our "old" boat out today that we have for sale now, which is a very similar boat to yours. she is a 1995 rinker 180 se a/e 3.0lx alpha 1 gen 2, and i have to say i do enjoy zipping around in it and had fun on it (we plan on shuttleing people from the big girl back and forth to the island tomarrow with her) but when we parked her in the empty slip next to the "big" boat i knew why i had switched to the "big" boat in the first place. there's nothing like camping out on the water.
