Re: Toyota engine sludge class action suit??

what I have is actually a Potentiometer........ drive by wire controls.

They might even call it a throttle position sensor . . . which is also incorrect as it is really a pedal position sensor as the throttle is in the intake . . .

With that said, the recall sounds like software to me, but I stayed at a real Holiday Inn (not Express) last night  I read that the cars continue to accelerate if the pedal is drawn back especially slowly. That and the fact it is across a number of models tells me that this might be a code issue. Some weird combo that sends the ECM into a fit. Been there, done that, got the bullet wounds ;)

I love the media... they take something and try to scare everybody... The most common sign that there is an issue is the pedal gets hard to depress... and then its a little slow to return. In VERY rare conditons, they could stick and not return all the way.

Personally I think Toyota has set a new standard for responsibility and safety in the auto industry. They are stepping up and stopping production and sales until its fixed right. Toyota has always been a pro-active company and this is another example for there commitment to us, the consumers.

Finally someone gets it...... Thank you......

It definitley has to do with the crap drive by wire (death by wire). i dont know of any vehicles that the floor mat could hold the accelerator down. Just wait till all cars have electric brakes:eek:

That is actually worse than I thought it was. So they actually have 2 problems? Software on many, and floor mats that physically get stuck on others? Geez, now they sound like GM, have bad anit-freeze AND junk lower intake manifold gaskets.

Toyota "may" have set a "higer standard" but they can't live up to it, cause it never really existed. It's all marketing and brainwashing mindless sheep. Theor cars are not better built or engineered than anyone else's and this recall, for 2 SIMPLE problems, plus the Tundra problems they've had, proves it. Wake up folks.

Ha! My Toyota was built in Japan with different parts. My pedal is not a recalled one. The problem they are having is with a part made in the USA :(

QC it's not software it is a mechanical problem.

BS.... Toyota's has a higher standard than the rest. Hell, even Ford came out with a commercial that said "our quality is now EQUAL to Toyota and Honda" http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36Lk-x3mE4w don't believe everything you see on TV tho...

Every car has flaws, if this was your precious Government Motors, do you think they would have done a 'stop sale' and halted production?... Hell no they wouldn't have. They wouldn't even have recalled them if the nhtsa didn't make them.... history proves this with GM.

I think its time that YOU WAKE UP and realize that this is America. And we have the right to choose whats in our driveways. We have the right to buy what we want and buy what we believe is best for our needs.

They should've used the Denso pedal assembly like they have for years. This is what happens when you try to buy from the States........our quality sucks, Japans is better.

Toyotas suck...I hate my Toyota. I've been driving it 16 relatively trouble free years asking it to do things that it was not designed to do and it just won't quit. I'd love to have a new truck, but can't get one till I can justify the expense to myself. My damn Toyota just keeps on going and going, preventing me from getting a new truck.:D

I never said you couldn't drive whatever you wanted. By all means, go right ahead. But don't tell me they are perfect cars, cause they aren't. I've looked at more of them wrecked than you've ever seen running, and they break, just like every other car. And are built just like every other car. Nothing different or better.

Yeah yeah yeah...........Ford addresses the "percieved" higher quality of Toyota. They are trying to get back the market share of folks who own these foreign pieces of Crap. I still haven't seen a Toy or a honda with 400,000 miles on it, I have pics of my old F150 with that many miles on it. Original motor and trans.

As far a the fire issue goes, it was a design flaw that ford recalled and fixed, like a responsible manufacturer should. They Recalled ALL the affected models to have them fixed. Did they halt sales? NO. Why....because the design flaw was identified and discontinued before the issue of fires came up. Then all the vehicles were recalled. That is the way it should be done.

As far as my Ford being less American made than your Toy......my American money stays in America when I buy an American vehicle. It doesn't go to Japan never to be seen again.
