I like the setup a lot of new boats have with a bucket for the driver and a back-to-back on the passenger side.

I've thought of that too. I kind of like it.....but I just can't get a clear choice in my mind. LOL. Choices, Choices, Choices!!!!

Re: Just got a "New to Me" boat

Another thing I'm trying to work through is the fuel tank. Since I don't know the history of the boat, I really don't want to use this tank. I converted my VRO to pre-mix last year, so I feel I should use a portable tank that is strapped down to the deck. I think the best place would be right in the middle of the two stern seats. If I do this, where would I put the battery?

Another option for the tank is buy a below deck tank and slide it into the cut out area under the seats that was molded for an inboard motor. This would free up deck space, but I would have to run a fill line and vent line, plus I believe this will give me more headaches pre-mixing my fuel.

Any thoughts on this?

Btw, thanks for all the feedback. I hope I'm not being annoying with so many questions.

Replace your below tank with one of the same size. Here's a link to all of Moeller's tanks. I think iboats carries a lot of them: http://www.moellermarine.com/aftermarket/fuel_storage_tanks/permanent_tanks/ Mix your gas in 5 or 6 gallon jerry can style tanks and fill with those. (that's my plan). I had a 12 gallon "portable" tank in the Jupiter and I filled it 99% of the time from the jerry cans.

You know, its amazing what you learn when you do some research. I just noticed that on the title there is a typo on the HIN. Instead of I at the end, it is listed as a 1. So, I am mistaken with my assumption that this was a 1991. It actually is a 1979. Oh well, free is free and its hull is in better shape than my previous one. LOL

haha, I never noticed you referring to it as a '91. I definitely could have guessed it was way older than that. Not that it matters! Cool boat anyway.

Point taken....but the amateur tape job that's on it isn't mine. I would have at least used the 100mph tape!

Re: Just got a "New to Me" boat

Ok update on my project. Due to my work schedule I really haven't had time until the past week or two to get started.

My first task was fixing the trailer. I pulled the boat off and set it up on blocks with the help of my dad, a good rope, and a pine tree. Then he and I set out to replace some of the rusted out angle iron, install side steps & fenders. When that was done, I painted the trailer with a rust stop paint utilizing several coats. I'm currently in the process of installing the rollers, new winch, new bolsters, & bunks. I'll have new pictures up as soon as I'm done. Then its off to work on the boat.

A side project has been my seats. I finally decided just to re-use my Todd enterprise seats from my old boat. They've been good seats, comfortable, and most importantly....no added cost. But to make them look a little better I decided to try some of that Fusion paint designed for plastic. I was a little skeptical, but what could it hurt. So far it lives up to what it says about the paint bonding to the plastic. We'll have to see how they'll hold up to wear.

Here is a pic of the paint job.
