Finally got the new powerplant in the '78 Glastron CV23. Went from a '70 429ci to a 466ci, and ~300hp to ~500hp. Block zero-decked, 0.030" over Speed Pro Hypers, ported/polished/blended D3 heads (Cobra Jet sized ports, 2.25"/1.77" valves, new springs/locks/retainers). Lunati Voodoo cam. Harland Sharp roller rockers. Stealth 8021 intake (CJ sized ports) powdercoated "Super Chrome" with a clear powder to tone down the finish; timing cover and crank pulley PC'd same color. Armando's 10qt oil pan. Melling HV oil pump. Rail kit with top mount starter option from Jetboat Performance to clear the larger pan and tie the engine/stringers together to handle the extra ponies.
Jet pump was also fully rebuilt.

A short vid of her idling after initial break-in: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P7YV22bOLFg

Sweet. reminds me of the rig we used to parasail behind in Door County. are you running the original Hardin Marine manifolds and snails?

I'm not sure if they're Hardin's; they're long-bolt logs/snails. I think the only Hardin's I've seen are short-bolt.

you may need to go bigger on the flame arrestor. that looks a bit on the small side to feed 466 cubes.

That was installed by the PO. With the Stealth intake, I had to go to a much shorter arrestor; hi-flow, 8" diameter, 2.75" tall. It barely fits under the seat framing. Still marginal in size; so I may have to go to a pancake/hose with a larger remote arrestor.

I finally got her in the water (off the dock) last Fri. The previous weekend I had a flexplate issue. The weight was hammering the rear mounting plate. I replaced it with an SFI rated flexplate and all is mostly well. The SFI plate has some wobble and makes slight contact with the aluminum flywheel cover intermittently. I wasn't able to put too much time on her as she has a bit of rocker chatter above 3k rpm, so I'll need to readjust the rockers. I'll be cutting a slot in one of the old valve covers so I can adjust the rockers while she's running at op temp and not be spraying oil all over the bilge.
She had good oil pressure, 80psi cold at idle, ~60psi warmed up at idle, water temp was a solid 160* off-idle, ~170* at idle. I set the timing at a conservative 34* at 3k rpm.
Now just waiting on Spring!
