I have searched high and low online for the best way to get rid of the old carpest glue the easiest and best way on my 21' Tracker Fishing Barge. I tried the heavy duty oven cleaner, heavy duty goof off which did work ok I tried gel stripper which wasn't as good as Goof off but nothing really got it down to bare aluminum and I was going to need a lot of chemicals which gets expensive. A $14.99 7" sanding disk from the orange box store is doing the job.
In a matter of 15 min I was down to bare Aluminum in a 4x4 ft area I had to stop to let the grinder cool down but it was ripping it up. Maybe this will be helpful to those getting ready to redo the carpet on their toon and don't want to deal with messy expensive chemicals. I think I will be able to do the whole deck with 2 maybe 3 disks. Best part is the finish has nice swirl marks in it for the new glue to adhere too!
