Welcome aboard TDF! Glad to have you here too. I had a fellow send me a PM from one of the boards I belong to...He said "Easy Greasy!" Told me it was one of the easiest transoms to replace....hmmm ...then left with no explanation. I replied to his email address, sent pictures and he never bothered to reply. For awhile we were trying to figure out how to approach this as you probably read...

I'm feeling pretty confident now...RJ and 64 have been encouraging me so far..

good deal on the patterns.

***if they are off, I claim no responsibility***

RJ...tomorrow I have an lunch appointment with SATX. I'm going to look at an old OB he has and also grab your Medallion deck patterns. So I will let you know if I have any problems...in case I need a scapegoat. :D

I have drilled thirty or so buck rivets...still plenty more to go....weather and other obligations have kept me away from the project...but hopefully that should change soon. Pictures will follow once I start making some real headway or unless I encounter any issues.

Cheers!

Oh yeah...I will keep the patterns for the next person who takes on a Medallion. Who knows...I may do another one if this one turns out as nice as I hope. I have spare LS clears and 2 spare bow lights. If I could find someone with an extra green lens...then I would have 3 complete bow lights.

Glad to hear you hit the lake for a few hours. Was that the 1st trip for 2016?

Catch anything?

Oh wow extra bow lights... my green is cracked but loooks like glued previously. Prob is it is more blue than green.

Yeah first trip out and only 20 casts more about a short cruise and a nap.

yeah...all the bow lights chrome is pitted...but I've got a chrome shop that is going to restore all of the bits and pieces. I plan to explore the possibility of a tech company in the People's Republic of Austin to see if I can get some lenses made from injection mold printing. It may not be cost effective yet but as technology evolves costs continue to become more reasonable. There are several classic Mini parts made from plastic that are no longer available anywhere...I've often thought about having several made using this process and selling enough to pay for the setup/production expense. At one point...the only way to have parts like this made was to outsource to China...if you wanted to go through the hassle. Now with 3D printers having been around for a few years...duplication is becoming more reasonable.

A cruise and a nap is sometimes better than getting a line wet.

Met SATX yesterday for lunch...had some great conversation and some unexpected fun! While visiting with SATX I also picked up RJ's deck patterns for the Medallion. They look great RJ!! Thank you!!

SATX is an interesting character and very knowledgeable fellow. I hope to get together with him often...he is lots of fun. He sure knows old boats and outboards. After a tasty TexMex lunch...we took a ride over to meet a friend of SATX and to look at some of his collection of classic old outboards. We also strolled through a couple of old boat salvage yards. In the process SATX spotted some rare old outboard motors and I found a potential next project...a beautiful old Texas Maid Fiesta in fine condition! All in all...it was a wonderful day, Now I've got a new friend with SATX, an old place to hunt for all things related to classic boats, great new place to eat when I drive to San Antonio...and last but not least the coveted Redneck Joe's deck patterns for a Lone Star Medallion!

I'm in the mood to dill some more buck rivets this morning...so hopefully will make some real progress today!

Cheers!

Ive only met one person from this forum, but have met close to 40 from my other forum. Made a few life long friends, some good casual friends and unfortunately the one that became my 'brother' passed recently after a year long battle but not before we spent a good amount of time together, both before and during.

So, never pass up the chance to meet a freind you didn't know you have.

RJ...Could not agree more! BTW...I'm really excited about the patterns...you did a great job and the patterns will save quite a bit of time and work trying to do them from scratch.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's never easy to lose someone...but even harder when it is someone very close. I know only too well.

Good deal. Cant remember if i traced the small notches on the big peice. I think i traced those from the originals, which im sure were not original and i looked at my new floor the other day and while not perfect, they will do for me.

For the other - For anyone following this thread and are lontime hull truth members, I'm talking about endoman. Great friend .

Enough of that, lets get back to boats!

Hi all...just a quick update...Spring has sprung here in Texas...and the weather has been all over the place...yard and garden needed lots attention...so boat project has been temporarily put on hold while I catch up on some of my spring chores. Recent heavy rains deposited a fair amount of water in the boat...when most of the pavement dried...I found a small leak along the keel seam...in the bow. It's a very slow leak as there is still plenty of water in the boat. I'm going to have to jack the tongue of the trailer to remove the water or else wade around 8 inches of water. :D

Thats where my leak is. I tried some spray in crap on the inside didnt work. I get a couple gallons on a few hours of running so not to worried. I had it sitting for two weeks in the water and only had a few gallons. My bilge pump shoots the water about five feet out so i think i can keep up...
