Nice work. Pretty brave spending all that time and money on cosmetics before actually verifying water operation.

I noticed the boat used to have Bennet hydraulic trim tabs. Any reason why you didn't just replace with those? With a boat that size, would be nice to have helm adjustable tabs.

Well, I finally took it out on the water, first time all year! And I am happy and surprised to say.. it's flawless! Every single thing worked. Not a SINGLE issue or problem. I couldn't be happier. Here is a few videos I took:

I was thinking maybe the prop isn't right for the engine. With 7 people and a complete full tank of gas - we maxed out at 32mph by GPS, cruise around 26. RPM at cruise was 3k-3200, maxed out at 3500.

As for the carb upgrade, damnit I wish I asked before I ordered a stupid 2 barrel replacement last month. Is this the one you guys recommend?

As for not putting it in the water before doing all upgrades- I verified it had no leaks and floated. I knew the engine was new, and rebuilt the outdrive. As for the trim tabs, I went with Smart tabs. They are the best thing ever invented. I will never use hydraulic tabs again.

Nice job!!!

As a note about some of the "electronics" you got rid of, .. The "Uniden" thing was a depth indicator (60's & 70 technology). The autopilot (autohelm) does not need (and really can't be) tied into any radar. That might have been the only thing worth saving,.... If it worked.

Did you even run this boat with hydraulic trim tabs? I personally would never put smart tabs on a boat this size.

Nope. But I had a 27' bayliner and a 30' bayliner with hydraulic trim tabs. Again, the smart tabs are a million times better. I'll never go back. I had a full tank of gas and 7 people moving around the boat. Believe me when I say it was flawless.

Took boat out for the first time this season! All went good, but I need some replacement parts and was wondering if anyone can help me find what to use.

The throttle is a little wonky. The cables are pushed out a little from mounting a speaker behind it. Its hard to shift, and just old in general. Anyone have a recommendation for a slimmer, more modern throttle controller that will work?

I ordered a set of replacement pieces that lock and hold the side windows open and closed last year. Like an idiot, I lost them and cannot find them to save my life. I cant even remember where I got replacements. ANy ideas?

The prop on this I think is improper. It is a repowered 5.7L Mercruiser Engine with code MCM. 1994 Bayliner 2452 Hardtop. Any idea what prop I should switch to for maximum cruising speed?

I owned a 92 2452 a few years back, an upgrade I would suggest is to hinge the door on the right, that way it doesn't trap the passenger in the seat. Its easy to do, just move the hinges to the rh side on the outside of the door and space them out with a wooden block. The 95 and newer did this from the factory but I couldn't find the offset hinges they used. Mine had a 350 magnum tweaked up to about 280 hp, I found the best prop was a 15.5x18 Quicksilver, believe me I must have tried at least 10 different props. I cant understand why you took off the Bennett tabs and put on smart tabs, I actualy made some stainless plates to double the area of my bennetts, they worked great. One last thing, these boats hate weight on the back but love it on the front, we would carry 4, 5 gallon Gerry cans of fuel on the bow on long trips, you sure didn't want them in the cockpit. Good luck and enjoy your new toy.
