Made an ignition switch plate Wednesday night and took it to a local engraver yesterday with a drawing of how I wanted it. It was done today already, so I picked it up and brushed it. I missed two small scratches that I didn't notice before the photo, but took those out right after.

Bilge cover is pretty nifty! That will keep the catch from flopping down in the bilge

I darkened it some later with some citrus, but will probably use some black laquer or enamel to make it pop better

Thank you. The cover is 1/8" woven stainless mesh with some trim lok vinyl edging around it. I'll support it with some aluminum angle.

Watermann - I'm marking my rivet points for the deck so I can get the countersinks cut before OTF. Am I over engineering again? In the center two smaller panels I have 32 marked with a spacing of about 10 inches on average. I want it solid, but don't want to go extremely overboard either.

Matching the deck rivets up the same distance as the ribs is well enough.

Kind of a boring day today pulling and replacing the deck panels so I could measure and mark for best rivet placement. That took me up to when the Admiral wanted me to sit down for dinner.

After dinner I drilled the first 46 holes and countersunk all but 8 that were too close to the sides for the portable press. Will get those when it all comes out for the pedestal supports and OTF. Definitely going to need a good vacuuming and blow out when I'm done.

By 6:30 it was too dark to use power tools. I really need to bring my work lights home to work any later.

Tried pretty much everything I could think of. The engraving just isn't deep enough to keep anything I tried in it once I clean up the surface including permanent marker, shoe polish (suggested by the engraver) and enamel. Think I'm going to have to live with it.

I think if u use black caulk to fill the engraving, then take a thin cloth wrapped around a plastic razor or putty knife, you may be able to scrape away the brushed areas keeping it flush, leaving the letters filled. Just a thought.

Looks really nice ! Maybe spray with flat black ..Let dry then lightly sand with fine paper leaving the paint in the text ..
use a flat block to keep the paper as flat as you can ... Just a thought ...
