Not sure but I think it is wired to always be in forward...
purple choke switch and switch on the black to kill motor....
also my ignition has a red wire so the harness might be for another year
When the motor is NOT RUNNING it will be in forward.------Shifting is done by solenoids that direct oil pressure.-----12 volts to the green wire puts it in nuetral after one turn of the flywheel.----12 volts to green and blue together puts it in reverse after 2 turns of the flywheel.-----You can operate the control lever all day long and it does not shift if motor is not turning !!!
Ok I get how it is supposed to be.
no wires are hooked to control box. So always in forward.
I will try the three wires and hope the relay works.
what would the switches be for? Red ign to black and purple to purple ?
Where did you get that dumb diagram? I quit looking at it when I saw 1960 75hp. NO Way. Anyhow, try this. And note that it takes the yellow plug cable.
I thinks you have the wrong control box.----Is there an ignition and choke switch on the control box , yes or no ?--Is there a big YELLOW plug where it plugs into the motor wiring harness, yes or no.------Yellow plug was only used for the 72 model year for the 3 cylinder motors !!!
That looks like a control box for 1962 - 1968 electric shifts. Hydro-Electric 55hp not included. As Racer said, the correct control box would have the ignition and choke switches integral to the control box
