Gimbal bearing is stuck on my u joint drive shaft

You could pull it with a three jaw puller or cut it off. I think you need to test fit the new one in the housing and see how tight it fits. Also did you remove the retaining in on the outside of the bearing? If its not there its going to be loose.

Had the same issue I tackled this morning on a Volvo Penta SX-M. Took a few hours, used my bearing puller, PB blaster, and heat to get it off. My work bench also helped give me some leverage. See attached pics.

When you install the drive: the o-rings on the
shaft need grease but grease them after they
get put on the shaft.
Grease under the o-ring can lift the o-ring and
can make it hard to install.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll be sure to do this when I reinstall my outdrive this weekend.
