So I’m finding a choice between 140 and 160 degree thermostat for this engine. How shall I choose?

Is the 160 degree thermostat something I can go to an auto parts store to pick up or do I need to buy Mercruiser brand? Same engine as OP...a 1987 Mercruiser 350.

you can order them on amazon, your local automotive store, etc.

always use STANT (that is what Mercuiser used for years and that is what CHAMP heat exchangers used)
