OK first off, I guess I don't know what I'm doing thought it would be easier than it is. I bought a 1987 Boat with a 1986 Mercury 3-cylinder 2 stroke with trim and tilt, the engine is hurt and not going to rebuild. I found a 2003 Mercury 4 stroke EFI and would like to put on smartcraft, Called Mercury and they said this engine will work with Smartcraft but wouldn't supply me with any information on the items I needed said see dealer. Well, I went to the dealer, and I guess I wasn't clear enough that I have no gauges at all and would like the smart craft well I still couldn't get the information The boat has no gauge package on it at all nothing, does anyone know what I need to purchase for the Smartcraft gauges also this engine has an 8-pin connector. Than k you

It may not be all that simple, and I'm not sure how good SmartCraft was in 2003, as that will be you limiting factor.

It sounds like you need a Smartcraft 'conversion kit', but it may take some research as to which one. You will probably need a set of the Smartcraft gauges as well. It might be a bit of trial/error getting all the right bits. I am not sure if the dealers are experienced in Smartcraft conversions, rather than fixing existing Smartcraft systems.

What value are you trying to achieve? I have a new(er) boat (2016) with all the Smartcraft and Digital stuff . . . it only looks like fun. 🤪

I like all the items the Smartcraft can tell you about the running, but I need a tach and would like trim but getting other information would help oil pressure, temperature I see Smartcraft on eBay but I hesitate do to cost if it would work great no problem but to spend the money and all I have as a shelf item I have lots of those now

I’d think it be 50/50 if you’ll get smart craft from that engine. If you defo can. Vessel view mobile is the cheapest way to go.
