No splash yesterday. The weather was cooler than predicted locally and breezy.

I also had internet problems (now corrected), plus computer problems (still working on that) which required my attention.

Serious cold fronts headed our way, which will be hitting us for the next couple of weeks. The splash will have to wait. Again. 😏

Maybe I can get something done on the boat if the temps go up a bit. Maybe. 🤨

-17 here in MN at the moment, with a real feel of -24. They cancelled schools because of the cold. No snow.

I had my first PT session this afternoon and I must say that it helped. I'm looking forward to the next 14 sessions and associated home exercise.

I hope to be able to get to a gym to regain and increase strength and if very lucky, avoid replacing my knees altogether. 🤞

one year later.jpg

Yup, it's been a whole year since I purchased the MC and it's still dry.

But! Splash time is growing ever closer. (I know, you've heard it before. )

Since my last update, I've been keeping busy, including boat stuff!
First and foremost - my health is greatly improved and continues to get better! I completed 15 PT sessions, plus home exercises and now the gym for 3 weeks. I can walk and maneuver myself much better. Along with the good news comes some "ugh" news. Met with a doc last week who diagnosed me with spinal stenosis. Nothing serious or anything like that. Mostly annoying. My old age arthritis has gotten down into the lumbar area of my spine and has a variety of symptoms. I'll be doing exercises for those as well as the knees and whatnot.

Boat stuff summary:
I installed a new water separator/filter with all new fuel line.

I had put all 4 of the donor seats up for sale, but figured out how to use the non-folding seats from the donor boat and installed them into the MC. Then I sold the 2 folding fishing chairs.

I bought a really cheap and rough bow fishing seat, power washed and cleaned it up, but it was still butt ugly. So, I painted it and that didn't help much either. 🤪
However, for $20 for the seat, cushion, sliding seat controls and base, I just installed it and got on with life.

Then I had to correct a windshield issue. The PO had broken the upright post on the port console and bumped the windshield so that part of the plastic panel was out of the frame. And during all my efforts in the boat, I bumped it too and the windshield was loose. My wife and I tried to slide the plastic back into the aluminum frame for 1/2 hour, but no joy. The next day I went out, completely removed the port frame, attached the weather stripping back onto the panels and got it all back together, no problem! I also fixed the upright post and the windshield is good to go.

Had to remove the duck tape residue, but a razor scraper and mineral spirits made short work of that.

The only remaining things to do now are to drain the existing fuel, refill the tank with fresh fuel, plug the speedo water pickup tube, charge the batteries and go.

Sadly, my young buddy who helps me has time limitations due to a serious illness in his family. 🙁

But, I'll get this thing splashed yet!

Was beginning to worry bout ya...
Healthwise, I'm doing fine. Improving quite a bit. Able to do a lot more.

I don't want to splash this boat alone. I need somebody around who has capabilities to help if there are issues, minor or otherwise. My 35 y.o. neighbor friend is that guy. And he's one very busy fella. So, I have to get in line with all of his other projects. Totally worth it though. 🙃

So close and yet so far... 🤪

My buddy came over this morning and helped me get the XR6 running. I guess I wasn't squeezing the fuel bulb hard or fast enough. Must be out of practice! 😄

Anyway, the engine is running great, but my bud didn't have more time to go for a splash today. And next weekend is out too. Busy, busy. However, he has another friend (whom I know) who may be able to help me out.

It's too windy for a splash today anyway. 🎐
