So driving the ford I came up with a few more likes/dislikes.

Likes:
Acoustic glass

Dislikes
Electric brake boosters
Digital gauge clusters (if you're going to give me a screen for a dashboard, at least make the gauges have more than a max and minimum for tick marks)

The torque converter feels like its pulsing on mild acceleration and every shift was either smooth or trying to snap my neck. The easiest way to describe it is like lugging a manual transmission... except its doing that at 2500 rpm not 1000... and its done it since day one and Ford still says its normal.

I'll also add the B&O stereo is.... underwhelming. There are some time alignment issues with all those speakers that makes it sound weird.

If you have a torque converter shutter, it. Needs a converter. Fluid flush may or may not make it better

agreed, the new torque converters eat themselves when they start to slip (shudder). if you pull the filter, you will most likely find fairy dust.

Its weird though. Like I've driven an 8 speed with the shudder and this feels completely different. Its more like the pwm for lockup is pulsing. Doesn't do it under very heavy load or very light throttle. Just that one particular spot and even then not all the time nor in every gear. Its difficult to describe. The 8 speed was like rumble strips, this is very much like a low rpm lugging of a manual.

Might not be a bad thing to just take it back to the dealer and let them do it though. At 20k miles and still well within warranty may as well.

You don't like Adaptive Cruise Control?

Its very easy to use the program Forscan to add digital numbers above your gauges depending on the model year of your truck.

The blue cruise... it ping pongs in the lane. Not a fan. Adaptive cruise I have a love hate with as the set following distances in most cases are either too far or too close. And they're entirely useless as you have people weaving in and out of lanes into your following distance. Too slow then speed up and so on. Gets old quick. If people didn't drive like apes, I'd probably like it.

I'll be honest, I hardly use cruise control period. My last trip (~500 miles) I used it on the barrier island. About 20 minutes of the nearly 9 hour drive.

I haven't messed with forscan that much but yes, I know it can be done... but again the principal I have to do it on my own after spending money on the truck is kind of dumb. My preference is the Denali gauge setup. (Though it still uses l/h for the small gauges)

Well...blue cruise or adaptive cruise control will not work without having an electric brake master cylinder.

BTW...Forscan is free!!!! All you have to do is buy a bluetooth OBD device which you kinda want anyway if you ever have a code set and want to read it with the FREE Forscan software.

I have a 2024 GMC Denali 2500HD and had a 2018 F150 Lariat. I much prefer the Ford gauge setup. I also like how the Ford shows what gear you are in at all times.

My normal drive is from Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe(500 miles). I do it monthly. I can't even imagine doing it without adaptive cruise control. I also can't wait until my 2025 Rivian has the 395 mapped so I can do full FSD all the way. Even when we tow our travel trailer on trips, I ALWAYS use adaptive cruise control.

25 Denali, 22 f150. The ford looks like its an arcade game dash. I assume being an 18 the dash still has some analog elements and isnt the full digital one. The denali at least gives you a little more detail.

I have a few Bluetooth readers but they aren't reccomended to be used with forscan. Again, not my truck so back burner. I appreciate you can at least do it on the Fords as GM lo9cks that stuff down hard. On the flip side, the only thing I would really want is to turn off the fake Coyote noises pumped in the radio over the ecoboost when you get on it.

I do appreciate the gear indicator. I'm so used to my truck knowing just by looking at the tach what gear its in, but having the indicator is nice.

I want to and like driving so FSD and the like I don't care for. Same reason my daily doesnt have forward collision, rear braking or blind spot monitors... I just want to go. That being said, the electronic aspect of it is touchy. The denali which also uses an electric based system feels more traditional and doesn't seem to do that. Its kind of the same thing thing with electronic power steering. Some are pretty good (both trucks are passable) and some are annoyingly twitchy though now that seems to be earlier iterations of it.

I think part of the problem is me as a person gets bored easily. So if it doesn't engage me, do anything or make me think... I lose interest. I have an order of magnitude more fun driving a 1955 model vehicle with mechanical everything than I do that ford. And I'd almost willingly just drive that everyday. Though I would convert to discs up front and a dual master cylinder if it got driven that often. But I really think its a me thing.

I'm still getting use to the adaptive cruise in the new toyota. I can't turn it completely off so I have to get use to it. The quirk is the car in front gets off for an exit and my car can break hard even though the exiting car has cleared my front. Appears that it's reacting to maybe the left rear ?....dunno.

After listening to the "car care nut". (toyota guy), I disable start/stop when driving.

Are you sure about that?
You could turn it off on the 2025 Camry I rented a couple of weeks ago.

Everything with a remotely updateable computer in it. has....TOTAL CONTROL......over the device !! You OWN IT.
But have no real control of it.
Accept that reality.
Mu Accord is always being updated without my permission.
The safety distances are constantly being changed by those GEEKS

I think you have to hold the button or something and it'll default to regular cruise. Thats how it worked in my girls corolla anyway.

I’ve decided I totally hate, and there isn’t much that I hate, the electric parking brake on my new truck. When I back down the boat ramp sometimes it set automatically and sometimes it doesn’t. The dash light for it is blocked by the shifter. I find myself at times pushing the button to set it and when I do the parking brake released message comes up, and vice- versa. Not liking it at all, especially on boat ramps. SUCKS!!

Ive never had one but I don’t think I would like it either. There is something about that feel in your hand makes it feel right and you know its on.

As far as the automatic parking brake. It does suck but it’s also convenient at the exact same time. If it senses the vehicle rolling, it locks automatically and touching the gas on most vehicles pulls it off automatically, so on a boat ramp you’ll never actually forget.. but it sucks when you feel the bind and release after just pulling out of a flat parking spot
