Don't like E-brakes at all
Have yet to find where I need to open the door when backing or going forward but did find out my 2025 truck does apply the brakes, hate that.

Me launching a boat goes from backing in reverse until boat starts down the ramp, then I put trans in Drive and let it idle back. If I need to slow or stop, just push down on accelerator, no brakes needed until full stop

As far as the automatic parking brake. It does suck but it’s also convenient at the exact same time. If it senses the vehicle rolling, it locks automatically and touching the gas on most vehicles pulls it off automatically, so on a boat ramp you’ll never actually forget..
it does not engage on the boat ramp every time. Today I launched and retrieved. Worked at launch, not so good when stopped on ramp to retrieve.

LOL...I love E-brakes. Never have to have an emergency brake cable to ever have to adjust again is a good thing.

I think I've had to adjust a cable parking brake once. Based on the number of recalls of electronic parking brakes releasing or engaging when they aren't supposed to... I'll take my chances. I don't even like hill start assist.

Yeah, turning a couple nuts is such a monumental task, It’s so much more convenient to deal with a frozen brake, get a tow and pay the dealer to fix whatever electronic issue it is. 🙄

I've worked on all kinds of parking brake mechanisms over the years . . . not sure I liked any of them. :ROFLMAO:

Never adjusted a parking brake on anything except my dump truck, never needed to. My truck has electrical braking and has a push the peddle down parking brake

Yeah...say that when the cable is stretched out you have run out of adjustment room like a 99 Silverado that I owned.

Never had an issue with e-brakes yet. I currently have 3 cars that have them and I sold one 2 years ago with one with 70K miles on it.

I have only ever adjusted one E-brake cable in 45 years. It was on an H-body winter beater

A buddy of mine was complaining up a storm about how his cable stretched out to much and was trying to take the slack out with some 2x4’s. He had the wheel off so I pulled the drum and there was almost nothing let of the shoes. I said why don’t you replace the shoes and fix the problem. He was completely baffled that could be the problem. It was an early 80’s truck and the pads were likely less than $30 bucks but he wouldn’t do it. Two weeks later he went for inspection and they failed him for his breaks.
Time to start over. Some people learn the hard way. .

Parking brake just quit working on my 2001 about 10 years ago. I never bothered to find out why. I hardly ever used it anyway.

Tilt, cruise, AC, and yes, wiper delay. Mirrors on both sides is good (lol), with blindspots. Ok, electric windows. Better have that for the mirrors too. Rear window defogger...

A kid in high school had an early 60s Dodge with a pushbutton automatic transmission. Nostalgia. Not for that one in particular, but others...

It’s funny. I have a 1951 Plymouth which when it was new it had some of the latest features. Automatic choke, turn key start and electric wipers were available along with overdrive available one year later. I’m going to find a NOS electric wiper motor for mine as it doesn’t have it. Also literally has airplane brakes which were the best available although very hard to deal with these days as the adjustment gauges are no longer available. The push buttons were actually outlawed by the government. They must have laxxed that law as they have now come back

I do hate how we went from either console or column shift to these dial, push button, click but still have to push buttons to go into other shifts that everyone is using now... the shifter in the new Silverado/sierra for example is... annoying. Our work expedition has a stupid dial. The Tahoe has buttons... like come on guys... lets have some consistency.

How so? Mine seems to shift just as conventionally any Chevy truck I’ve owned.
I have to push a button for park but use a different button to get it out of park while either bumping it forward for reverse or backward for drive. Its just unconventional. I'm used to it but jump between so many vehicles I forget. I grabe it like a normal console shift and it yells at me to hit the side button. Maybe its a mess issue lol.

Do you have that bump joystick or the standard shifter on the console? It would be more intuitive for me to just be a tap up or down to cycle between p/r/n/d.
