1994 Starcraft Super Fisherman 170 Rebuild Help

Hi all!

I have done a couple of rebuilds of older single console boats. The latest was an Edson that is now sold.

I came across a 1994 Starcraft Super Fisherman 170 for a good price, but to address some poor hull patches, I need to pull the entire interior. Has anyone done this before? If so, is there a thread I can be pointed to for an idea of the order to disassemble it? I know lots of the bolts and rivets are hidden.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have a 1994 super fisherman It’s 18’9” long.
I hope I never have to pull it apart because it looks like the sides and casting decks have to come out to get the floor out. The interior sides are screwed at the bottom and riveted at the top. The fasteners are hidden in the carpet. Lots of rivets to drill out.
I’ve stripped boats down all the way before and it takes a lot of time and money.
If you have to tear it down just go at it spring is coming and you don’t want to miss any fishing time.

The overarching key here is if yer gonna do it, now is the time to do it right. Listen to others that are smarter than you and if you are not sure ask questions then reread the first part of this sentence.

It's not really too complicated. Take pictures of absolutely everything, lable stuff well, and check in if you get stumped.

Welcome aboard, lots of projects here where our SCs have been stripped down to bare hull with repairs to the Al as well as deck and transom replacement. With motivation it takes at least a year to accomplish for the average person.

Just keep in mind, while it may be a fun project to get the boat just the way you want it.....you will never get your time and money back out of the project. If that is OK....then onward !!! If that is going to be a problem then look for a boat that needs little to no work. Good luck....

Maybe just me, but several times the project of restoring or rebuilding an item is more satisfying than actually using it.

The 1994 super fisherman 170 should be a great boat and well worth the rebuild.
