Hi all!

I have done a couple of rebuilds of older single console boats. The latest was an Edson that is now sold.

I came across a 1994 Starcraft Super Fisherman 170 for a good price, but to address some poor hull patches, I need to pull the entire interior. Has anyone done this before? If so, is there a thread I can be pointed to for an idea of the order to disassemble it? I know lots of the bolts and rivets are hidden.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome
A few folks will see your question but will get more eyes on it in the restore section. If you don't get the views I'll move it over.

I have a 1994 super fisherman It’s 18’9” long.
I hope I never have to pull it apart because it looks like the sides and casting decks have to come out to get the floor out. The interior sides are screwed at the bottom and riveted at the top. The fasteners are hidden in the carpet. Lots of rivets to drill out.
I’ve stripped boats down all the way before and it takes a lot of time and money.
If you have to tear it down just go at it spring is coming and you don’t want to miss any fishing time.
Good luck.

Just did my 82 mariner this last summer. My thread is not too clean as I can (oh look a bird) get distracted but it was logistically simple.

The overarching key here is if yer gonna do it, now is the time to do it right. Listen to others that are smarter than you and if you are not sure ask questions then reread the first part of this sentence.

A few side threads but I think I captured most here.

Welcome aboard, lots of projects here where our SCs have been stripped down to bare hull with repairs to the Al as well as deck and transom replacement. With motivation it takes at least a year to accomplish for the average person.

We always enjoy seeing pics

Just keep in mind, while it may be a fun project to get the boat just the way you want it.....you will never get your time and money back out of the project. If that is OK....then onward !!! If that is going to be a problem then look for a boat that needs little to no work. Good luck....

Maybe just me, but several times the project of restoring or rebuilding an item is more satisfying than actually using it.

I appreciate what everyone has said. Does any one have pictures or a thread that can give me an order to do it in?

Also, here is a picture of the boat.

Might be better to show the problem areas themselves. Nice looking boat, that hull style handles chop well.

Thank you. I'm wondering if anyone has done it before and can tell me the order to take things apart and where the hidden stuff is. Photos from someone doing it before would be a godsend.

You're just going to have to dig into it yourself and figure out where everything is. Boats aren't like cars, there are no manuals or parts diagrams. I've been tearing them apart and fixing them for 12 years, others much longer. Every one is like that.

We can help with more specific questions, but not something like "how to take a boat apart from start to finish.

Don't let it intimidate you, just start at the back, take pictures, measurements, draw diagrams, and you'll get it.

Here's a starting point, take off all of the lids. Lable each one, keep the screws in a labeled cup or ziplock.

Use two people, one to hold the lids while you take them off. It's your project, so give the helper the easier task.
