Contour maps?

I have an older Lowrance HDI 7 and a Humminbird Helix 5 gps. Both I do not know the exact models. The Humminbird is fairly new but not latest model. I tried to figure this out but only got more confused. I want to get contour maps for Cayuga lake and Onieda lake. I can’t figure out what I need to do. Can I simply buy a chip from Bass pro or something? Onieda is new to me and I know that the bottom comes up quick.

Some units come with maps, some don’t.

If the unit(s) didn’t come with maps you need to buy the appropriate chip.

I believe Humminbird supports c-map. The lowrance could be c-map or Navionics

Yes go to bass pro or online and order the chip for the hummingbird. You won't regret spending the $

My Low dance HD 7 is a 2013 model and previous owner bought a North America card and installed it ...it shows everything in north America from contours to roads. Only guessing that he bought it from Lowrance, I would call them first.

My lowrance I’m pretty sure is a similar vintage.. both have maps, but no contours. It shows the body of water and where I am, and I can track myself to a pin back to the launch ect… I normally use the Lowrance as it’s easier to see

Oneida has some humps and bumbs for sure. Most is marked. Sometimes the wind there can make the place absolutely miserable to fish.

Where is the best place to launch out of? South shore boat launch is closest to me, but didn’t impress me when I checked it out. Snug harbor I also checked out but it seems like they cater to race boats and high dollar boats.

When we fished there we stayed at places that had private ramps and offered docking. Three pine lodge is one. We also stayed at a place on the route 31 side several times with the same set up. Can’t remember the name but it was cheap and clean. I’m sure a lot has changed as far as lodging since we used to go 20+ years ago.
We fished all over the lake, I did well mid lake to sylvan beach.
