I had a lot of Sediment in my pressure tank. The motor is a QD-18. I ran great one day and the next day not so
great. With help from everyone here, I found the glass sediment bowl full of garbage. I had a plastic tank and fuel line
already. I tapped the by pass cover. The lines are close...
I took the boat out a couple of weeks ago and dialed in the high speed and low speed. Boat ran great. Went yesterday
and the motor started but seamed to be starving for fuel. It seamed the fuel was pulsing. Alot of sneezing. The primer
bulb did not want to push down. I moved the low speed...
Finally got out with my new toy. Started fine and I adjusted the high speed setting and was quite happy.
Motor runs like a new one. I just don't seam to have good top end speed. The cavitation plate is about 5 inches
below the bottom of boat. Would a jack plate help the top end speed...
There seams to be some seepage around the top of the tank. It holds pressure and pumps up.
Is there any thing special to know about pulling the top off and replacing the gasket or
should I maybe do a conversion to single line. The motor is a Johnson QD-18.
Thanks
Chuck
The motor has just had an impellar change. Started and idled good. There was not any fishing line on prop sahft. The lower unit oil looks good.
The question is what should the shear pin on this year motor be, brass or steel.
I just brought home yesterday. Will boat test soon.
Thanks for the help...
