    Starcraft Falcon

I have just acquired a Starcraft Falcon, serial number is 922974, looking at the brochures and comparing colors (mine has an orange deck) it would appear to be a 1971. It has the plastic emblems and single transom knee. Anyone have a similar serial number series to confirm that it is a 71...

Adding aftermarket VOLTAGE REGULATOR - anyone actually done this ???

Re: Adding aftermarket VOLTAGE REGULATOR - anyone actually done this ??? Hey Moody blue, my deep cycle/starting battery from walmart is non maintenance free. The caps pop off and you can top it off. I think thats what Mercury is referring to. The regulator circuits used on the snowmobiles or...

Re: tower of power rpm's Not sure if your tach is right, looks to me that it might be turning at 5K now, given your 17P prop and speed.

    1968 Merc 350 short shaft

:confused:My turn to ask a question, picked up this motor for a quick rebuild, needs 2 pistons and upper and lower crank bearings. The upper bearing lost 3 balls into the top cyl and beat the piston up etc. Ordered new pistons which arrived and had the correct part number according to the merc...

115 inlne 6 question for Clams and other xperts

Currently tearing down a 1974 inline 6, cyl 3 rings toast, no compression. All others 130 psi. After removing the crank/assembly there is evidence of overheating/ pre ignition on 3 pistons, 1,3,5 are melted tops and some skirt damage (3 has broken top ring) 2,4 and 6 are perfect, mildly...

    Another big twin

It's a disease I think, bought another one today 58 35 hp. Just started to do the usual coil replacement etc and I noticed a small crack in the steel flywheel hub at the edge of the keyway. No doubt caused by a loose flywheel. Anyway, anyone had luck welding in this area? Paul? Ca Transplant?

    Question for Paul M.

Hi Paul, your oppinion would be appreciated. I have a 58 evinrude 35hp that is in good shape except for the threads on the crank. Its obvious that someone had trouble keeping the flywheel nut and flywheel on this thing so they tried to weld the nut on. Needless to say it did not work, weld...

Helpful hint (worked for me anyway)

Its that time of year again here in Canada where the ice fishing huts are gone, the water beckons and the boat is still in the driveway awaiting installation of the stern drive. You remember, you took it off cause you were going to change the water pump, paint it up, etc etc. Heres a simple...

    mercruiser 165 power boost

Anyone had any sucess in squeezing more hp/rpm from the 6 cyl chevy 165 hp mercruiser, different carb? different cam? electronic ignition? Running on a 1975 Cal Glass cuddy (heavy) turns 4000 rpm with a 15 pitch and runs 32 mph. Engine is new but broken in approx 100Hrs. ;)
