Well now the outcome I blocked the steering and turned the shaft and it like shredded the cable just outside of the drum I don't know what's next. I think maybe just try and sell motor and outdrive and take boat to landfill lol.
Yea I can turn it , it still turns the steering wheel so I'm guessing it's still in the splines . But I have turned and prayed so much it's not budging
It's is electric shift I have the outdrive off and have owned them before. But I still have had no luck if I split the motor and housing can I knock it out from inside the housing?
Yea thanks for the reply I have been twisting and prying for two days lol farthest it's came is about 11/2" and just stopped and nothing since. Would it hurt to use a slide hammer?
Hi there to all , I have a 1982 cobia sportster I'm trying to pull steering shaft out of intermediate housing. I have pulled the bolt from the inside and got it to come out about 11/2" and It will not budge any more. This is an omc electric shift 120 Duke. Thanks for the help in advance.
Well I figured it out somebody did away with the automatic oilers and didn't unhook it at the motors . Unhooked them and everything seems good . This boat is new to me so just kinda figuring everything out . But thanks for the info
Well update it was the stators so problem fixed . But I have another problem both motors start and run good for about 1-2 minutes and then just die but will start right back up . And run the same amount of time then die again .It don't sputter just like I turned the key switch off , so it don't...
I replaced the rectifiers still same thing . Don't know if it has anything to do with it but now both motors run good but will o ly run for about 3-4 minutes then shut down , but fire straight back up and another 3-4 minutes and do the same?
Sorry about that book said 35 amp but it is a 10 amp did some more testing over the weekend and stators both seem good I think at idle they are showing about 32 ac volts and go up with throttle so I'm guessing they are good ?
