Hi there I have twin 2.6 omc motors. Motors both run good ,but Neither one is charging my batteries. I tested both rectifiers and seems to be good . Would my staters be my next step ? Just seems weird for both at once . Any info would be appreciated thanks !

What voltages are shown at the Batteries, With engine off, and with engine running at a fast Idle?

Well I tested the stator by the book and they both tested .5 it's a 35 Amp stator so according to the book they should test around .17 so I'm guessing they are bad ? Any info would be helpful

Details first.-----Model # ?----Are you sure it is a 35 amp stator on a 1982 model?

I don't think they even offered a 12 amp accessory Upgrade for the V6s in 82

If you have a battery selector switch check connections there also..1982/83 used 10 amp stator and 1984 up used 35amp stator. Need the model numbers

Sorry about that book said 35 amp but it is a 10 amp did some more testing over the weekend and stators both seem good I think at idle they are showing about 32 ac volts and go up with throttle so I'm guessing they are good ?

Read battery voltage at idle and should 1-2 volts over standing battery voltage, test at 3000 rpm and should see 12.9-13.4 volts

It shows about 12.6 and don't fluctuate no matter at idle or in the throttle

I replaced the rectifiers still same thing . Don't know if it has anything to do with it but now both motors run good but will o ly run for about 3-4 minutes then shut down , but fire straight back up and another 3-4 minutes and do the same?
