    what adhesive do you use in replacing a thru hull fitting?

    I'm doing a fiberglass repair to the bilge area where i had to remove the livewell fill thru hull fitting. I'm buying a new fitting to reinstall and was wondering what adhesive to use. It looks like a plumbers putty looking adhesive was on there initially. Thanks.

    replacing poppet valve on 1989 mariner 115 hp

    I'm going to replace the t-stat on the outboard and figured i would replace the poppet while i'm at it replacing the gasket under the same cover. I have the poppet and awaiting for the diaphram and spring to come in, do i need to replace the black cup shaped piece as well? Thanks.
