Wiring a 3 wire trim/tilt pump to throttle handle switch

It works harder going up, more strain as you trim it up. Going down is easier on the system. The 3 wire motors basically the same as the 2 The 2 was used by Johnson/Evinrude/OMC Some Chrysler inboards, Volvo/Chrysler inboards. And many more.

Wiring a 3 wire trim/tilt pump to throttle handle switch

Depending on how far the wires are ran?? you could use 12g. wire but the 10g would be the best. When they started using the relays, I had a boat with twin 88/85's both had the system. Got to be more problematic the older it got. I ended up carrying new relays and butt connectors in my bag of...

Wiring a 3 wire trim/tilt pump to throttle handle switch

In the old days: they didn't have a Trim up on the Chryslers/Forces. The outboards that had T@T usually had a heavy duty switch on the dash and heavy wires from the switch to the pump and battery. Starting around 86 87 they started using relays so they could use the T@T in the shift handle. If...

1990 120ho force king pin question

Yes still her, been under the weather and my knowledge on this area(kingpin) isn't the best. In all my years, I've never taken one apart. I've just been lucky enough to be able to free them up and get them to work. 75 and slowing down and it's friggin FREEEEEZIN out there. My hands stop working...

1990 120ho force king pin question

Marine grease is the only grease to use. IF?? you ever go in salt water?? Marine grease should be used. Fresh water you can use regular grease but why risk seizure again??

1990 120ho force king pin question

Always needs grease, LOTS!!!!! of grease. Never too much grease. I don't think they need hammered in. Usually I can get enough grease in to loosen the kingpin. Sometimes it needs an acetylene torch to loosen the old sludge/grease. Just don't heat at the very top or very bottom. Some bushings...

1990 120ho force king pin question

Not an easy job. To make it easier, the head and lower unit needs to come off. If it's ever been in salt water?? 10X harder. Need a factory manual too. An acetylene torch helps. Take pics and post the procedures when done.

1990 Force outboard 230ho removed upper bearing by cutting and left a crease need advice

The bearing you removed was a pressed on bearing. It should have been pressed off to avoid any damage. The "loosesness" probably wasn't a problem. When reassembled the collar with the seal would have stopped the wiggle. New bearing might go on with the chill/heat procedure or rig up a press...

    1974 Chrysler 135 hp limping

I have a bucket of old parts that I give away usually for the cost of shipping. I pay the shipping and ask the person to donate that amount to a no kill pet center. So far it's worked out good :) Gotta be honest!!

Back into the 1989 85hp rebuild

Yes they work together. The coil test: swap position and see if spark follows the swap. The pack test: swap position and see if it follows the swap.

    1974 Chrysler 135 hp limping

I've been working on Force's and selling parts for over 35+ years and can say I've never ripped anybody off. Some people think they've got a gold mine and charge way too much. Saw a lower unit from a 88/125 The guy wanted $1000 Shame on him.

If the pump was OK?? do what Racerone suggested. Remove the cover and push on the rings and see if they are loose or stuck.
