    safe?

There are many variables here. Trailer weight capacity and boat weight. BTW boats always weigh more than the manufacturer specs. My little 20’ Four Winns weighs 4960 on the trailer! Finally took it to a scale a couple of weeks ago.

Replacing Risers/Elbows and Exhaust Manifolds on a Ford/OMC Cobra 5.8 Ltr

About the mating surfaces I just used a razor blade scraper carefully. Then very light sand with medium grit sanding block.

Questions about the set up of a Holley 4160 on a 4.3 V6

Thanks to all I’ll let you know how it comes out!

Questions about the set up of a Holley 4160 on a 4.3 V6

Yes it’s a pita but I guess that’s one difference between Holley & the QJet. So I’ll just keep at it till it’s right. This carb doesn’t have a vacuum pull off it uses the old style vacuum piston inside the choke housing.

Questions about the set up of a Holley 4160 on a 4.3 V6

The carb & manifold don’t have any vacuum ports so I have to use my dwell tachometer. I know about making the primary transfer slot square but the secondary is different because those slots are higher up. So should the secondary throttle plate be totally closed to get the idle lower, or opened...

Questions about the set up of a Holley 4160 on a 4.3 V6

Won’t fit on a 4.3 the front fuel line will hit the thermostat housing. The 4.3 used the side mount fuel inlet.

Questions about the set up of a Holley 4160 on a 4.3 V6

Ok guys, my Quadrajet acted up again over the past 2 seasons, not running right, I had it all apart, tried to clean it the best I could, but no joy. So I took the Holley out of the garage that I tried a few years ago, the first time I tried it it wouldn't run right (loading up, too rich) so...

Replacing Risers/Elbows and Exhaust Manifolds on a Ford/OMC Cobra 5.8 Ltr

Don't your old manifolds have that fitting? Mine original ones fit the threads in the Barr manifolds. Ahh just checked them, looks like the nipple for the hose was part of the casting. Mine came with these: see the 90* fitting?

    My block is drained, right?

It's nice to get lucky once in a while eh? I have a couple of pieces of coat hanger wire in the boat tool bin that I can use to rod out the drains if necessary.

    Sand Ingestion - DP-SM

IIRC there is a clean out on the SX upper unit, under the plastic cover. Once it gets in the engine it's tough to get it out. GM cast iron blocks were never meant to be raw water cooled, IMO. That's just the cheapness of engine marinizers.

    cool fuel III interesting trouble

I’d think that’s common on boats that often run in shallow water and here in the salt pond I wound not be surprised to find crud growing in there, as is common with moored boats with outdrives here. Every year you have to rod out the water intakes or else you’ll have a low water flow problem. In...

I just bought a 2025 Bayliner VR5 with the 200hp 4.5L Mercruiser, - many issues - Low power, BARELY pulls me up slalom

Stalling while idling doesn't have anything to do with the swim platform issue, that is a boat fuel system problem or a Mercruiser EFI problem. Modern EFI is usually pretty trouble free so I'd be checking the fuel system from the fuel filter back to the tank (on in this case ask them if they've...

Question regarding wiring up a carter electric fuel pump

From what I was able to determine, the last use of the mechanical fuel pump was on the 4.3 V6 blocks made from 1987-1992, from '93 on up there was no machined mount for the mechanical pump. I'm not sure if it disappeared from the V8 blocks the same year or later.

Replacing Risers/Elbows and Exhaust Manifolds on a Ford/OMC Cobra 5.8 Ltr

And...are you sure there isn't a pipe plug in the front and rear of the exhaust manifolds? This is how all the other Barr manifolds I have seen are, you remove the front pipe plug and use the hose fitting for the 3/4" ID hoses, you can use the rear one to drain it for winterization. The ones on...

I just bought a 2025 Bayliner VR5 with the 200hp 4.5L Mercruiser, - many issues - Low power, BARELY pulls me up slalom

Has the whole fuel system from the fuel filter back to the tank (anti siphon valve, tank pick up tube) been checked?
