Testing Gas Flow on 82' Wellcraft Sterndrive

I would get the model ,serial number off the current distributor then have a auto parts store cross reference it . Or Google it . I'm guessing it's from a 3.0 - 4 cylinder engine . Mercruiser did not have them made special , they came off the inventory shelves . If you research- Google your info...

    Chain worth it?

Using line will also absorb more wave action vs chain as it stretches a bit before maxing out. It's less stressful on the deck hardware and not so jarring to passengers while onboard .

Testing Gas Flow on 82' Wellcraft Sterndrive

I would install a electronic distributor before putting a Petronix system in . See them online for 120-150.00 , which is less money than the Petronix set up .

Testing Gas Flow on 82' Wellcraft Sterndrive

A remote 5 gallon jug with hose hooked up to wherever you deem easiest junction pre fuel pump . Engine runs OK, you backtrack from the fuel line or start at the sending unit on top of the fuel tank. Runs the same , at least you've ruled out fuel delivery as the issue.

    1973 Gibson houseboat oil cap

See post # 5 . If your low on oil you have a leak . And if your real low , air will have entered the system , which means bleeding the air out . They sell a hose ( on- line or maybe on this site , around 30.00 ) that goes on the two relief valves on the steering cylinder , this eliminates about...

    1973 Gibson houseboat oil cap

Sea Star helm , usually fill hole goes directly into main chamber . I see a mesh reinforced hose , if that hose goes to your fill plug the oil level is good as long as oil is in that hose . Should not use or need oil , unless you have a leak , which will leave a puddle , oil spot under it ...

    1973 Gibson houseboat oil cap

Edit above post . OP doesn't state how for from the " steering wheel " it is . If it's within a couple inches of the steering wheel shaft then fill it as stated above as it's not some remote fill system. Through me off when he stated it's on the dash , which can be where the gauges are or where...

    1973 Gibson houseboat oil cap

Probably a Sea Star system, which you can buy there steering oil , 30ish a quart online . Or you can use any light weight oil #5 ( hydraulic oil like they use for snowplows )and under . Transmission oil will also work. Fill to about a 1/2" below the cap , that's for expansion in the hot weather...

Anodes for Yamaha outboard...Zinc or Aluminum?

And that has what to do with the OPs question ? Can't wait to read someone's post about how they keep their boat on a trailer and don't have any corrosion issues .

Anodes for Yamaha outboard...Zinc or Aluminum?

It's good you put the correct ones on . Maybe if you researched it awhile ago and got the correct material you wouldn't have any pitting .

Anodes for Yamaha outboard...Zinc or Aluminum?

Are you slipped at a Marina , on a hook , private dock ? Ask any fellow slippers what they use or have the same results as you ? Stray electrical current will not affect your motor while underway , so that anode is normal to show no wear . I might try to figure out a way to have both types...

    1999 Wellcraft Excalibur

It's possible it was ordered with a big block. Not that unusual for a 21 + - to have them . In theory the 454 will last longer than a small block. You are working the motor less to achieve the same speed you would with a small block. So if you properly maintain it you should get 5-6k hours out...

    1989 Astro Quick Fire

A test light is in most boaters tool boxes . Are you getting power to the switch ? Do you have power coming out of the switch or ower at the trim pump . Your switch may be fine , you could have a bad solenoid on the pump a bad connection , worn wire or bad switch . All traceable with a test light .

    Hardtop project

Shouldn't be , if it is fairly level with the shearline of the hull , as in it's pretty much pointing straight into the wind when going fast . They have them on CCs that run 70 mph all day long among other hull designs Definitely aluminum for roof material , for a thousand reasons. .

    Listing to port side

Might want to read all the responses before chiming in . Post # 12 gives you the beam along with the HP rating ( although that's not clear if it's for that particular hull or a larger one ) . Bottom and modifications have been discussed as well .
