Anyone have some specs on this engine?
ford 302 w/351w heads and 351w firing order
what size harmonic balancer and flywheel did these use? 28oz or 50oz??
i was assuming it was the 28oz imbalance, like the 302's of the same years...the 351w had 50oz, but this still uses the 302 crank, i think...
Re: MFG rebuild getting started pics
^^^ yeah, it didn't look like a 289 in the pictures, valve covers are the wrong shape and the intake is too wide. water neck and distributor in wrong spot too.....
(my inner Ford Blue is starting to show) LOL....
Re: 1973 SRV 220 OV Resto
found another interesting tidbit on mercruiser ford 302's....besides using 351w heads (closed chambered, larger valves)...it appears that that also use a 351w cam and firing order...
(sorry...can't access my photobucket account here at work)
:(
Re: 1973 SRV 220 OV Resto
well..with the cold weather here lately, we've taken a little bit of a break from the boat...my son is wanting to get his truck up and going,s o we've been working on his engine...
speaking of candy...
I was going to post this in my main resto thread, but i figured i would post this separately since it is a general tip for everyone getting ready to do some glassing.
when you finally order and receive all your supplies, and you open that bucket of the 1/4" chopped glass fibers to see just how...
well...been playing around with some designs for awhile and am finally finalizing some specs for a 27 footer....still working on some hydrostatic calculations on the design of the lower half of the hull....but this will give you and idea (cap and interior not shown for clarity)
question....
why are most of the ford, chevy based I/O setups use a manual flywheel??
i know for the ford engines, it can't be for the engine weight balance...the early engines were externally balanced (28 oz) and they have manual and automatic flywheels that are 28 oz balanced...
someone asked...
oh, decisions, decisions...
came across this ad right by my house.....
i could very very easily recoup my money by parting this old gem out....especially the engine blocks....

has anyone done a conversion like this?
my pre-alpha has the trim switch/sensor located at the top of the ring/housing (and of course it's bad/broken) and was thinking of changing it over to the style that has the switch/sensors on the sides of the gimbal ring at the pivot pins.
has anyone done...
whats up with the transom seal gasket on pre-alpha gimble housings??
my gimble housing (1973 pre alpha) had a flat rubber gasket, w/holes for the mounting bolts to pass though, that goes between the gimble housing and the boat transom...but the new one i just picked up, GLM, is just round foam...
anyone have, or know where i can get, a template to cut out the holes required for mounting the steering wheel hub into the dash? It is a 1973 Ride-Guide Merc steering setup.
sorry if this is the wrong forum to post this question in
thx,
Dan
1.For a Boat you need Time and Money
Therefore: Boat = Time X Money
2. "Time is Money", so:
Time = Money
3. Therefore:
Boat = Money x Money
Boat = (Money)^2
4. "Money is the root of all problems", so:
Money = sqrt(Problems)
5. Therefore:
Boat = (sqrt(problems))^2

will be soon to the point to remove my engine, but regular hoist won't work...
looking for some pictures of anytype of home-made a-frame hoist system that any of you may have built or seen..
i've got a good idea of how i'm going to build one, but just looking for some other's that may have...
