Whats a good cold start procedure for a 99 Johnson Venom 225?
It takes the engine a good while to actually want to run. What am I missing?
This is what I do. I hook up the water. Then I prime the oil and fuel usually the oil is very tight. Then put the key in and hold down choke and start...
Its been a while but finally saved up enough to get it. IT Runs like a champ. One issue I have noticed is it takes it a bit to start up. Will start another thread for that.
I have a 1995 Johnson Venom 225 Model# J225STLEO
After running engine in idle on muffs for 5 min or so the No Oil Alarm starts to ring..( Intermitent beeping every other second or so.) From the research I have gathered so far.. the sensor is inside the VRO Pump.

So I figured out that I never Turned the Red Switch where it needed to be... It is now along the body and everything is running as it should and is not flooding.. However I have a new issue wich i will create a new topic for.. Thanks!
I believe the cowling to be original.
Currently it will startup the first or second key turn. It will rev up for a second or two then comeback down and then die. It runs a total of 15 seconds max through this process. Not sure if it matters but is has a hot foot hooked up to it.

I have a Stratos 201 pro xl 1995. I need 6 carb kits for the engine that it came with which is a Johnson 225 Venom. Any idea what kit I need? Where can I find the Serial or Model number for this engine?
Tilt is now fixed! Thank you all for your help. Orings did the trick. Now just waiting on a new prop and will be taking it out on the water. Any ideas for a transom saver for this motor? I would like the one that attaches to the Transom mounts. Not the trailer ones..
He was saying a couple of issues. It is now running like new.. The first was that the carburator float was not closing off the fuel inlet when the bowl was full. (Bulb was soft and would continue to let more fuel into the carburator instead of getting tight. ) so it was basically flooding...
