I never see charge voltage out of the rectifier. Running I never see a voltage higher than the battery voltage unless I'm at almost full throttle. I have rechecked charging coils, rectifier, wires and they all check out with a meter. I get ac out of the coils about 15 vac but it Needs at...
Yes I just did not run it up high enough. When I run it up I get low teens. With new regulator I also get some charging voltage but not the 14+ that is expected. Battery at rest engine off supplies 12.7 I am able to get 12.9 at 2/3 throttle guessing 2500 rpm.
I have 4.5-5 volts ac the rectifier is bolted to the frame (ground) of the motor. Good ideas I'll get another cheap rectifier just to eliminate it one more time . Thank you
I don't think so. It's not in the wiring diagram but I'll look closer. Thank you
Charging coils and what I think they call ignition coil were bad. Broken wire on charging coils and ignition coil was melted. I replaced those and the rectifier as that was testing bad as well. With everything connected it still not charging the battery. Voltage exactly the same running or off...
Compression 100 both cylinders cold 105 warm. most of the work on the carb was 4 years ago. There was no change after except I fixed the worst problem which was vaporlocking when warm. Was probably fuel line as it resolved after addressing connections. That is not an issue anymore but everything...
This is an ongoing problem. Since I either troll or run it on a plane (80-85% throttle it's livable but vexing. At idle and a short amount above that it runs smooth. When I open it up anything less than say 75% I seem to lose one cylinder. I have rebuilt the carb, changed the leaf valve, replaced...
racerone thank you for your help. I checked again with a better meter no change. Last time I got involved with this motor on a fuel issue I spent way too much time figuring things out after the dealers locally turned up their nose at the work. I'll start looking for someone to do it.
