    So the steering system that was on there was a mess. I didn't even try and adjust or find out if it was the right system for the motors. I removed it and picked up one of these for $20 and after a little bending and cutting it works like a charm...

    Thanks for the reply. I can tilt the 9.9 manually but that puts the connecting rod to the 115 at a bad angle and I think it will affect steering. The 9.9 would be used for trolling and HP restricted waterway like you stated.

    That's what I figured but I was hoping to get a few more MPH out of it and run it the rest of this year and then try to move up to something bigger next year. Right now she's pushing around 7MPH loaded with the two guys and gear and I was hoping to get a little better. Maybe asking too much.

    Hello all, I just picked up a 2002 16' Lowe Bass Striker 160, the boat has a 6 deg V hull and has a weight of 745#'s with a max cap of 985#'s.
