I have already taken the outboard off the boat and removed the cowl with the lifting ring which I guess doubles as a flywheel puller.
I have never disassembled a motor. Are there any other special tools that I will need to purchase?
Also if anyone would like to give me any tips I appreciate it...
I have a 1969 65 hp mercury ob and was told by a mechanic that air was getting through the air intake and that the gasket needed to be replaced.
Was he referring to the carburetor?
not sure what my next move is...
I have a 1969 merc 65hp outboard. I can remove the faceplate and side cowl easily enough but am not sure the correct procedure to take off the top of it.
This model has a pull start and choke pull coming out or through the top piece.
Really don't want to ruin anything if there is a simple trick...

I am not sure what the line in the second pic is for?
It has a screw in the end of it. thought it was possibly to secure the fuel tank?
I am ready to paint the interior of my 1963 Starcraft. What is the easiest/cheapest way of getting good looking results?
I have taken the seats out and installed the mounts for the new seats and not sure best route to take from here.

I am not sure the proper way to repair this. It is snug under the bow but can reach the hardware holding the hook on.
Also any ideas on how to remedy the bent trailer metal in the first pic? Hammer straight maybe?

I just removed an old seat I want to replace with a walmart lounge seat. I am left with four holes from the previous seat in my fiberglass floor. The seats will be delivered this week and want to be ready to install them.

I recently purchased a 1986 65 hp Mercury outboard and am not sure I am starting it properly. I lift the warmup lever bout half way and click the choke button and hold it in while I turn it over. It eventually starts but takes a while. Any help is greatly appreciated.
